The KAISHO DJs are two seasoned professional DJs who have teamed up to start producing their own genre of electronic music. The limitation of two decks a mixer and a sampling unit was not enough to quench the thirst of these DJs who wanted to go to the next level of mixing experience. There was no other option but to move into the electronic music production scene to create their own sounds and relish in the freedom of expression in their productions.
Matt Balzan born in the UK and Luallan Cardona born in Australia were both brought up on the tiny Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. They have been influenced by the same high influx of electronic music imported and played on the island. Their fusion of tribal beats, dirty bass and hard edge tech sounds is what makes their style unique. One cannot fail to notice the light tinges of mashed vocals and warbled techno sounds along with the driving percussion creating a groove ride that makes you stomp your foot to the rhythm.
Matt was the first to get into music production using Ableton Live which initiated his experimentation journey into the electronic music domain. Luallan joined in later after meeting Matt for the first time in Scotland. Destiny dictated that 2 frustrated DJs from Malta had to meet up and join forces to get into electronic music production.
They are signed with Next Dimension Music and Galaktika.
Today Matt and Luallan live in the same building, one flat on top of the other and they are constantly locked into their little studios working on their next releases.

Thursday 6th September @ Red Bar & Club, Edinburgh.
This week to celebrate our new weekly residency we've got a couple of underground Edinburgh legends, The Physicist and Bill Spice who have been active in the scene for many years playing at Synthetic, Curios, Loop, Dogma, and numerous other parties and events.
As a special treat we have a couple of live acts visiting from Newcastle bringing an altogether different sound! Andfullstop plays chip tunes mashed up with jungle and glitch, pretty much like the Sega Megadrive in 92 with the amen break transposed and glitched up in the background! USJ (unitsoundjunk) brings us his own brand of techno and acid house with bouncy arpegiators and harsh beats, a powerful flow of detroit influence.
check the myspaces for soundbites www.mypace.com/andfullstop www.myspace.com/unitsoundjunk

Red Star Institute - Festival Specials pt 1 - Thursday 9th August
Here at Red Star Institute we love the Edinburgh festival. It gives us an excuse to showcase some of the best acts we've heard, professional and amatuer. We also love the extra two hours that the lovely Edinburgh licencing board have granted the venue throughout the month of August which gives us a chance to offer you so much more.
Given that we're providing more we have a small cover charge for the first time of just £2 but we're still free before midnight so join us between the hours of 10pm and 5am during August for something a bit special!
The 9th of August is an eclectic, up tempo mix of techno, electro, breaks, dubstep and jungle from:
