About me: My name is Kaitlin Hahn and I'm a Celtic fiddler from Wisconsin, USA. I've been playing classical violin since I was six, piano since I was ten, and Celtic fiddle since I was eighteen. I play in a band called Atlantic Wave, which has been in existence for two years, now, and we have a lot of fun playing gigs (see calendar for details). I have 2 CD's out: "Nice to Meet You," which is my own album, and "Craic'd!," Atlantic Wave's album. Right now, teaching is my job during the week... I have over 40 students in violin, fiddle, piano, and viola and I'm on the faculty of the Irish Fest School of Music. That's pretty much my life in a nutshell... but if you want to read a full bio, please visit my web site at www.kaitlinhahn.com!

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen. ”
Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

I've been meaning to write and tell you how much I loved your CD, "Nice to Meet You". It has a great sound, the songs quickly become like old friends, and your playing is bursting with energy and musicalicality. My only complaint? I'd like to hear more slow airs mixed in with the up tempo numbers.
But this is true of almost all Celtic groups I've heard. Why is it that Celtic groups seem to feel that 1 in 10 is about the right ratio for slow numbers to fast numbers, when there are all those achingly beautiful Irish airs and ballads out there? To me, this is like playing Mozart without the slow movements!
But the CD is terrific. Please give us more, and consider putting more slow tear-jerkers in the mix!
