Gena Rowlands i John Cassavetes "En kvinna under påverkan"
Before her ninth record, called Brott & Straff - 12 historier från ett kvinnofängelse ("Crime & Punishment - 12 stories from a women's prison"), Kajsa played live at Färingsö and Hinseberg, two of the five prisons for women in Sweden. From the stage she asked the convicts if they had any lyrics or notes. She was given words that became six songs for the album, and then she added her own thoughts and experiences for the rest of the material.
On the recordings Kajsa worked with Jari Haapalainen as a producer (the Bear Quartet, Moneybrother, the Concretes etc.) and six of the most wonderful and creative musicians from the independent music scene of Stockholm. They rehearsed and recorded the whole thing in one week, in a stream of flow. Almost surprised it all went so fast. The album was released in March 2006.
In the late seventies Kajsa Grytt was the singer, guitarist and songwriter of Swedenís main, female punk band, Tant Strul. In the eighties she formed an acoustic duo with Malena Jonsson on piano called Kajsa & Malena, but for 15 years now she has worked as a solo artist. The previous album to Brott & Straff was "Ar vi pa vag hem?" ("Are we on our way home?"), which was produced by Daniel Zqaty (bob hund), an album with a dark and thoughtful mood to it, based on Kajsa's guitar playing, loops and electronic sounds.

Death's a fierce meadowlark: but to die having made Something more equal to centuries Than muscle and bone, is mostly to shed weakness. The mountains are dead stone, the people Admire or hate their stature, their insolent quietness, The mountains are not softened or troubled And a few dead men's thoughts have the same temper.
