BAND NAME: Kalieda
DESCRIBE THE BAND IN 25 WORDS OR LESS: Tight five piece guitar band with a female vocalist. Kalieda play catchy pop rock with a pinch of cultural diversity (ooh er). We have got something for everyone.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED? - We are based in Glasgow but we all stay in different parts of the west of Scotland i.e Gourock, Greenock, Kilmacolm, Hillington, Kilbirnie. As you can imagine trying to get a rehearsal organised can be quite difficult, but we've got the hang of it now.
WHEN AND HOW DID YOU FORM? We formed 4 years ago.
RELEASED ANY RECORDS? We have been selling Demos and handing them out at gigs but nothing official.
SUPPORTED ANY MAJOR BANDS (WHERE, WHEN)? We have supported The Ronelles at The Cathouse in Glasgow at the begining of the year and they are doing really well for themselves of late. We are also booked to support the fantastic Mistys Big Adventure (in King Tuts on the 19th of December) who have just finished a tour of the UK with The Magic Numbers.
WHAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL & DIFFERENT? - We are special and different because we play and write songs that are catchy and rocky but they aren't just a rehash of something you have already heard. All five members have different musical influences and tastes; this has resulted in the band covering a wide range of genres from Latin Rock to Funky Pop. You could say we are a Kaleidoscope of different musical shapes coming together in a beautiful and colourful ensemble (how serious). Then again you could say that we are not.
WHAT/WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? - Everyone in the band has different influences ranging from; Jeff Buckley>Primus>They Might Be Giants>Super Furry Animals>Athlete>Frank Zappa>The Sundays....and so on.
WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER HIGHLIGHTS SO FAR? In april this year we got our first airplay of one of our demo tracks on Jim Gellatlys Beat 106 show. We were placed at No.6 in the BT RadioMagnetic new music chart last month and with over 200 bands up for voting we were very pleased with that. We played more gigs this year than any year gone past with over 25 shows. We have played in great venues such as; The QMU, The Soundhaus, The Arches, Stereo, The Vale etc.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS? - For 2006 we plan to get a better quality recording done. With this we want to get more radio airplay and more gigs.
WHEN'S YOUR NEXT GLASGOW GIG? Our next Glasgow gig is in King Tuts Wah Wah Hut on Monday the 19th of December with Mistys Big Adventure and Episode. We also have a gig booked in The Arches with PM promotions on Thursday the 19th of January. Two fantastic venues and tis the best time to see us cause we will get a great sound.
hope you are having a great end to the weekend....and a good 2008
so far! :) so.... please help me with my survey...

If you have nothing else to do today !!!!! why not VOTE for Estrella .....
Estrella are into the competition to play at the O2 Wireless Festival. The top ten finalists in the competition get to play at the 02 Wireless Festival. The winner receives a £5,000 bursary and gets to play on the main stage at the 02 Wireless Festival.
Over the next week the public can vote for the band of their choice on the O2 website. The higher up the ratings, the more likely the band will get noticed by the judges. The judges will pick the eventual winners at the beginning of March and the public get to choose the eleventh "wildcard" entry.
The competition has just come online so we would be very grateful for your vote or anyone else you can get to vote for Estrella! It costs nothing to vote just your time!
All you have to do is click on the link below and type in the search field Estrella.
