Hello and welcome to kammyskause.org
Hello -
My name is Jared Hiner and I am writing to you this year asking for your help. My daughter is
Kamdyn Ann-Faith. She was born December of 2001 with a rare chromosome abnormality called 4p-/Wolf
Hirschhorn Syndrome. There are about 600+/- known cases in the world. With only 150+/- cases known in the United States, information is very limited. My band, Original State of Mind, and I are hosting our 6th Annual Music Benefit on
August 28th-29th, 2009 at the American Legion Park just north of Fortville, Indiana on
Highway 13. (one exit north of Verizon Wireless Music Center on I-69) It is called "Kammy's
Kause". This free festival begins Friday evening and ends at midnight on Saturday. Donations are
accepted. We have had over 40 Midwest bands/singers that have donated their time and talents to
this worthy event over the past 5 years. We have had great turnouts the previous 5 years. For
the 3rd year we have a company in Ohio that will match our donations up to $10,000! The father of
a little girl with 4p- ,Lauren (see Top Friends), in Ohio works for this company. Our goal of
course is to reach that $10,000! AGAIN!! With that amount being matched we raised just over
$46,000 the past 2 years!! We are seeking sponsorship and donations in order to keep this event free to
the public. We rent out the park and reserve the campgrounds for those who wish to camp. We are
hoping to raise awareness about this syndrome, help with research, and assist families of
children with 4p-. The money we raised last 5 years has helped over 15 families attend biannual
National Conferences for 4p-. There they were able to meet other families of 4p-
children, receive one on one time with 4p- specialists (geneticists/pediatricians) from across the world, attend seminars and become more involved with the 4p- Support Group. Kammy's Kause has been
featured the last 5 years in the Greenfield Daily Reporter, Indianapolis Star, Nuvo Magazine,
Intake magazine, IndyMusic.net, Jambase.com, IMN.net,...etc. And is sponsored by 92.3 WTTS.
Thank you for your help!

Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.

Kammy's Kause
Kammy's Kause (August 28th-29th,2009) is a music festival dedicated
to raising money and awareness for the rare chromosome disorder 4p-. A free 2-day music festival
featuring some of the best bands Indianapolis, Chicago & Louisville have to offer. Located 1 exit
north of the Verizon Wireless (Deer Creek) exit on I-69, it's the American Legion Campground just
outside of Fortville, IN. Kamdyn (Kammy) Hiner is the daughter of Jared Hiner (Original State of
Mind) and the reason behind the creation of the festival. She was diagnosed with 4p-, Wolf-
Hirschhorn Syndrome, in January of 2002. With only 600 +/- cases known of in the world and around
only 150 in the United States research is pretty limited for this rare disorder. So we put on
this festival to help raise money that goes directly to the 4p- Support Group , www.4p-
supportgroup.org , to help fund the program and help other families that have a 4p- child.
Lauren's (one of Kammy's friends that has 4p-) dad's company has promised to match any amount we
raise up to $10,000 !!!!! We'd greatly appreciate your help and support, and in return be
entertained by some of the best bands this area has to offer. Such as,
Admission: Free
Camping: Free (so please no drinking and driving)
Food: Vendor's Cost
Raffle Items in the Main Tents
***All donations are accepted and greatly appreciated*** Be good and Stay Kind
American Legion Campground is located off of Exit 14 (Fortville/Lapel) on I-69, ONE EXIT NORTH of Verizon Wireless Music Center. Head east on S.R. 13 for 2.5 miles and the Campground is on your right hand side. Signs will point you to the entrance so keep an eye out!
What Is Chromosome 4p- Syndrome?
Chromosome 4p- syndrome or Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, is a chromosome disorder due to partial deletion of the short (p) arm of chromosome 4. It is, therefore, also called the 4p- syndrome. Features of the syndrome include midline defects with a scalp defect, widespaced eyes, broad or beaked nose, oral facial clefts (cleft lip/palate); low simple ears with a dimple in front of the ear; small &/or asymmetrical head; heart defects; and seizures (that tends to diminish with age). There is severe to profound developmental and mental retardation. Some patients do learn to walk with or without support and some achieve sphincter control (by day). There is usually very slow progress in development. Most (nearly 90% of the cases of the syndrome are due to de novo (newly occurring) partial deletions of the short (p) arm of chromosome 4. In the remaining 10% or so of cases, one of the parents has a balanced chromosome rearrangement involving chromosome 4p from which the child's 4p- is derived. Parents of 4p- children should therefore have chromosomes studies themselves. The syndrome is named for the American Kurt Hirschhorn and German U. Wolf who independently found the 4p- chromosome abnormality in the 1960s.

Henry French and The Shameless rely on strong songwriting and solid playing to get their sound out to their audience, and it seems that audience is growing...
Red Moon
Red Moon, out of Indianapolis, IN, has been growing and evolving musically for over four years now. While their line-up has shifted, their focus on writing and performing inspiring music for their listeners has always remained constant. Started as an acoustic trio, they have since evolved into a powerful quartet, with a sound as big as their desire to share the music they make. That sound, while difficult to describe or assign to any specific genre, draws from many different influences including classic rock, reggae, and Latin music, giving them a unique and fresh, yet still familiar sound. The four members – Cory, Robby, Jeff, and Lee – draw from a variety of musical backgrounds and experiences, all of which help contribute to a creative formula that is unquestionably their own. Recently, Red Moon has been working to expand their fan base throughout Indianapolis, Chicago, and other surrounding cities, where their exciting live shows, characterized by a mix of free instrumental jams and tight grooves, have begun to stir up a buzz that will only continue to grow. Friendly and always receptive to fans, it’s very easy to see that Red Moon is just four average guys, doing what they love to do. Their new release “Look Around” celebrates their passion for their music, as well as the variety of moods and emotions they are able to convey with their sound. Check out their tour schedule to catch a live performance, and you can also sample their music on MySpace, Zoomoozik.com, CDBaby.com, and iTunes.
The Elect
The Elect is a six piece jam/rock band based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Its sound breaks the traditional mold of today's typical rock bands by combining the best of many genres: story-telling of folk, heart of blues, and energy of rock which creates a feel-good, moving jam. The band is currently playing throughout the midwest in support of their newly release self titled CD. The album is available via their website and through a variety of online retailers such as iTunes, MSN Music, and Tower Records.
Shadyside Allstars
Shadyside Allstars is a progressive, four-piece musical act hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana. This group has a proficiency capturing an audience's attention with warm guitar & piano tones and tight rhythm grooves. The Allstars employ these abilities through solid structure and vibrant improvisation. Known for well-rehearsed stage performances, the Allstars simultaneously astonish crowds with unpredicted melodies, harmonies and rhythm-based jams. Kristen Leep of Indianapolis Music.Net writes, "They are a talented, feel-good band that write strong songs, improvise well, but always a have a focus." This funky, jam band momentum sparks rapport with multitudes of enthusiastic, energetic listeners. As spontaneous melodies soar over rooted grooves, the Allstars' purpose prevails: a fan base grows.
Elephant Quiz
Elephant Quiz started with two kids (pickel and kevin) in a basement, jamming and writing songs. the current elephant quiz formation is a result of friends jamming and then wanting to take that fun spirit of making music to another level. After a fifteen second appearance on MTV during an episode of "made" being shot in bloomington, the band was catapulted to the forefront of the local music scene, playing a constant string of shows throughout 2007 and into 2008. Mainly relying on word-of-mouth and reputation, Elephant quiz began packing venues and almost caving floorboards in with massive amounts of jumping/moshing people. The recordings heard on the myspace page were recorded live at a performance at bloomington north's 2008 prom, where all of the band members have attended/ do attend high school. Currently, the recordings are not mixed and are essentially straight from the performance, so make of them what you will. Elephant quiz is currently planning on playing several festivals this summer, including AfterRoo (after bonneroo), shwagstock, and some others up in michigan. more details to come.

Digby
"Biography", exclaimed guitarist Rich Oeffinger, "why the hell would anybody want to know all that boring stuff? The most exciting thing about us would have to be the music!!" True, maybe, but there are loads of people who are interested in all sorts of minutia when it comes to bands and musicians. For instance, what type of amplifiers does the guitar player use? (Sovtek Mig 60 and a Vox AC30). What was the bass players first bass? (A Washburn). Is the drummer married? (Yes). However, vital statistics like these don't tell you the whole story of the band. In a way, Rich would be right; the music is the most important aspect of this, or any, band. But a little back story never hurt anyone, right?
Digby was formed in 1999 by five mates from school. Actually, three went to one school and the others to another. And, they weren't actually mates when they were in school. It was in college, and through mutual friends that they found themselves in the same room one day, making music together. The first proper gig as Digby came in December of 1999 at a bar called Gerstles Place. "Gerstles has kind of been Digbys home bar, for lack of a better term," says bass player Ben Schneider. "We played there all the time, but it's not like we slept there or anything." The following month, they released their first CD to their local Louisville, KY market entitled "Laughing at the Trees". It received both critical acclaim and radio play, and quickly established themselves as one of the top bands in the area.

Jenn Cristy
Jenn Cristy is quickly gaining fans across the country with her talents as a singer, songwriter and musician. While seated at her piano, Jenn captivates the ears and eyes of audiences with her dynamic voice and energetic moves. Her strong melodies support passionate lyrics expressing how she sees the world around her both the good and the bad.
A former back up singer for Indiana native John Mellencamp, Jenn pours her heart and soul into her solo career. Its meant hours in the studio, writing and refining her unique sound with the support of her band members; Dave Dwinell, Oliver Wittman, and Andy Stocker. As Jenn has matured, her music and songwriting have evolved.
Jenn has shared the stage with such artists as Antigone Rising, Indigenous, John Eddie, Bree Sharp, Adam Kowalczyk (LIVE), Jeffrey Gaines, Danielia Cotton, Shurman, Girly Man, Michael Gabliki (Rusted Root), and many more. Now, with her second album's release, Jenn has developed an even larger following with her new sound, new songs, and her new rock band.
Original State of Mind
The band Orignal State of Mind is made up of Josh Rush, Nate Muterspaugh, Jared Hiner, J.J. McGinnis & Alan Long. Started out as an acoustic two-piece about 6 years ago and has slowly transformed into what it is today. We feel that we bring a kind of groove that is appealing to all walks of life and music. Songs of ours are personal experiences but left open to personalize in your own life and situation, to kinda let you make it your own. We really appreciate those of you who continually come out and support us. We plan on remaining a four-piece and rediscovering certain things all over again. Hope you all enjoy what we're doing because we plan on going for quite some time. Cheers
Blue Moon Revue
Blue Moon Revue is one of the more promising modern rock bands to emerge from the midwest in the past few years. Blending both sonic innovation and textural diversity, the Revue writes songs that defy the logic of most new rock music while maintaining that crucial pop sensibility. How do they accomplish this? Blue Moon Revue boasts one of the more unique lineups one could wish for in a rock band. Utilizing unusual instruments like synthesizers, marimbas, banjo, and any number of percussion instruments from a wide variety of musical traditions, the Revue flips the guitar band concept around completely. With all the power of a more traditional rock band, they branch out in ways that offer a little something for everyone. Supporting their debut album "Home" , Blue Moon Revue has recently relocated from in Bloomington, Indiana to the windy city with every intention to continue bringing its music to their audience. Along the way they have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the best acts in the business including Santana, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Widespread Panic, Galactic, Los Lobos, an OK GO to name but a few. With all that experience comes a tightly honed live act that is sure to entertain with out compromising. So that, in a nutshell, is what Blue Moon Revue is all about. With so much already accomplished, one is only left to wonder what awaits these young upstarts in the future. Cheers and success in '07!
The Twin Cats
The Twin Cats are a 5-Piece Jazz/Funk band based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. The band was formed in 1998 by identical twins, Adam (drums) and Seth (guitar/vocals) Catron. In 2002, Cameron Reel (bass guitar) and Phil Geyer (keyboards) were added to the group. After playing together for almost 2 years, The Twin Cats decided to add a new dimension to their music by bringing in Nick Gerlach (sax/flute), ultimately completing The Twin Cats' sound. They have played at multiple venues throughout the state and surrounding areas. From intimate venues to outdoor festivals, this group loves to entertain!! Best recognized for their innovative jams and funky grooves, and they never have trouble engaging a crowd. The Twin Cats continue to gain popularity with every show that they play... See for yourself, and check out their next show...
