It seems everything in my life's new these days, but it's all for the better, I believe -- got me a new niece (Olivia), a new summer fling, a new place to live, a new promotion @ work, a new workout plan, a new exposition platform (Miami Book Fair), etc. I've just been doing a lot of therapeutic writing and destressing by completing endurance races (done a half-marathon, two triathlons and a 5K since leaving, now I'm training for the Disney Marathon in January). So, I've few complaints. How about yourself? How're things on the home front?
Ya know, I was really bored by this new Friday the 13th. There just seemed to be too many scenes of the young victims improvising conversations. I know we're generally supposed to be rooting against them, but this was just dull. Jason himself is quite a menacing force now that he's smarter, faster, and stronger, but I was surprised by how mundane many of his kills were. There were maybe two or three I thought were up to snuff, but the rest were a major step back.
However, my favorite Jason moments of the franchise is whenever he's opposed by an equal force. Tommy in six, the psychic girl in 7, Freddy, etc. So maybe going back to his roots was always going to be a step back for me. Generally, I've heard from other people that they didn't find it scary (even the people I know who liked it).
How are you? Did you enjoy the premiere? I was really sick so I kept falling asleep but I loved what I saw. Tomorrow night, I will glue mu eyes open. LOL
