At a time when music is defined by choreographers, stylists and cue cards, Kandace Lindsey is the real thing. creating for herself a hard-hitting blend of raw, gritty, soulful rock music.
The main ingredient is a voice all too rare these days; bursting with character, personality and fierce skill. Kandace is a true artist, and those who have heard her have been impressed with her unique individuality, her fiery vocal technique, musicality, and songwriting abilities.
Kandace was already a session pro when she was invited to be part of the band supporting Latin Pop Artist Marc Anthony. With him, the bilingual vocalist completed four world tours where she was privileged to sing as a duet with Anthony on his hit, Ahora Quien.This led to Kandace being chosen to join Jennifer Lopez, Mrs. Marc Anthony--in the studio and in concert.
Striking out on her own, her talents have been widely recognized. Kandace can be heard in Coffee Bean and Tea leaf, Verizon Wireless, DKNY and Steve Madden stores. Her voice can be recognized in commercial spots for retailers including Nike, Budweiser ,and Curves Womens Gym. Both her voice and her original recording of Phoenix Will Fly have been used as the theme song for the WNBA Championship team, the Phoenix Mercury for all their home games, in half time performances for the NBA's Phoenix Suns as well as the NBA Entertainment League Celebrity Game. She has been seen as a performer on most of today's highest rated TV shows, including Oprah,Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
The daughter of a saxophone playing father and a mother who sang, Kandace was exposed early to the world of music and culture. Frequent family trips allowed her exposure to the cultures of Europe, Latin America and the West Indies, but Kandace was also heavily influenced by the Latin American culture found right in her Phoenix hometown. She learned to play piano early on, often playing and singing classic hits by Aretha Franklin, Sly Stone, Tina Turner or Chaka Khan as her father played the saxophone in accompaniment.
The personable performer keeps her feet on the ground, but her voice is up there with the angels. That is world travelers hear as Host of U.S. Airways,New and Now Artists channel. Her music can be heard on that airline's In Flight channels, as well as those of both American and Virgin airlines. Terrestrially, she performs regularly with her band at hot Los Angeles venues including the House of Blues, Viper Room and Hotel Café.
