Kerry's Interests
|
| General | Besides the above:
I love music. I used to be a pianist but my apartment and my budget are too small to afford one anymore so I was forced to quit.
For about five years I played the tuba and the trombone in some concert and jazz bands. Then I half-heartedly joined a choir.
I love reading when I get the chance, which given my ridonculous course load is very infrequently. See below!
I like French and Latin.
I LOVE the Canucks, woooo! Playoffs are coming, baby!
I like playing team sports; I was into soccer for a long time, and would love to get into rugby again. I used to be in Track and Field but not seriously. Planning on joining a gym this summer to get nice and lithe again.
I also love watching good movies, new episodes of my TV shows and wasting time watching reruns. | | Music | Too many to list, but a smattering:
Flaming Lips, Scissor Sisters, U2, Mando Diao, Coldplay, Matthew Good (woot native to Vancouver), Moby, Joni Mitchell, Tragically Hip, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Debussy, Vince Guaraldi (the guy who did the Charlie Brown Christmas), Aimee Mann, Johan de Meij, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Sigur Ros, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin | | Movies | Amélie, Lost In Translation, Fight Club, Royal Tenenbaums, My Life Without Me, Quills, Adaptation, O Brother Where Art Thou, the Big Lebowski, Sin City, Napoleon Dynamite, Donnie Darko, Carandiru, Amores Perros | | Television | I currently watch dedicatedly: Gilmore Girls, CSI (no spinoffs), House, My Name Is Earl.
I laugh uproariously at reruns of Seinfeld, The Nanny, Frasier, and MASH. I have stories to tell about this.
I also loved Due South. | | Books | Favourites include 1984, Catch 22, and lots of kid lit: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, Maniac Magee, Dinotopia, Anne of Green Gables... My guilty pleasure is the original Shannara series by Terry Brooks.
Last summer I read Nelson Mandela's autobiography, An Inconvenient Truth (which is better than though similar to the movie), and another one or two I don't remember.
To read this summer: the Constant Gardener by Le Carré, l'Étranger by Camus, Down and Out in Paris and London by Orwell, and Virtual Clearcut by Fawcett. (The latter is about logging in Prince George. I'm EXCITED.)
| | Heroes | I don't really have any heroes; I'm not into that whole idolizing thing. Sometimes when I am particularly impressed with an actor or musician or hockey player at some time, they will be my hero of the week. Jennifer Connelly is on my MSN photo right now. My weak spot is people with British accents like my Latin teacher. Littlewood, if you're reading this, you must know that there's a reason nearly your entire class is female. |

About me:
Right.
Basically I think that MySpace is super emoriffic (if you don't know what this means then basically you have no business with pop culture) and I'm only creating this account because I have no life and would like to hobnob with people I don't know.
I have a rather cynical view of humanity.
More specifically, I am a third-year at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada. I live with my boyfriend.
I study and have a passionate interest in environmental studies, geography, and sustainability in every shape and form. I have not done much exciting in the field – yet – but I intend to travel the world, to make a name for myself, and to make a difference in people's lives. My greatest vision is that of sustainable cities, including those in LDCs.
Initially I hail from Vancouver, which although it rains almost more than anywhere else, is my home and I love it. I can't wait to return there to live, and to see my friends whom I also love and miss.
I'm blonde and blue-eyed with lots of freckles. I'm a bit rotund but I plan to change that someday soon (hopefully this summer).
Please read on. I am more interesting than I seem.

Who I'd like to meet:
Mmm Hadn't really thought this one through. Typically, I expect that I won't meet anyone really – as a similar experiment with Facebook and Blogspot showed. Whom I would LIKE to meet, however, would include people who share my intersts, who care about what I have to say (and who have opinions to tell me in return), who want to network, people from other parts of the world, musicians and celebrities of every ilk, people who enjoy using correct grammar and interesting vocabulary, writers generally... I dunno, take your pick.
