As a dog loving knitter, I have written a series of books that tell about all the different activities that a breed does, and I take those activities, such as herding or hagility and create portraits in stitches of these to be knit onto sweaters.
And the most recent book for those gentle giants, the Newfoundlands.
I have not forgotten the fact that there are over 150 breeds of dogs recognized by the AKC. Since I have been creating designs showing these dogs for over 10 years in knitting custom sweaters for my dog loving clients, I now have brought out knitting leaflets for many of these breeds and more are being added all the time.
Let me explain. I LOVE DOGS. My breed is the Samoyed that I've bred and shown since 1968. I am also a knitting designer and author. So bringing my two favorites together, I design sweaters and accessories with pictures of dogs worked into them. The designs are work in intarsia knitting and I try to make them look as close to the real dog as possible. I also write knitting books. I am the author of a series called the Crafty Dog – Knits and the first three books in the series are available at my website. To get a good look at them click either the The Crafty Labrador Retriever – Knits or The Crafty Samoyed – Knitsand the newest The Crafty Golden Retriever Knits. Similar books for Newfoundlands, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Poodles, Corgis, Bichon Frise, Boxers, Yorkies, and more breeds are either getting ready to go to press or being written.
