'Cause I read somewhere that she likes to bake for people she is working with. That sounds alot like me. Whenever I make a special supper or have a special dessert I enjoy inviting people to join me. I like her as an actress:) She always looks gorgeous on the red carpet:) I like her dark shade of hair the best:) I cannot wait to see her play the violin in the movie "The Eye". I wonder if she will play classics at a fast speed. ****updated 12/28/07**** She is so adorable:) I love Lindsay so much:) I am writing to Lindsay as a way of reaching out to her:) I hope that she reads the letters:) 7/23/07 - Dear Lindsay, I did some film work this weekend and had 2 14 hour days. I loved it:) I loved dressing in a costume and feeling like I was part of history. I got to wear a stylish hat and a long form fitting blue dress with white flowers on it:):) I topped off the style with an old time hat:) My hair was up in a bun and there were two curls coming down the side. I loved the look:) I got so many compliments from my coworkers:) It was so surreal to watch the movie being made and see the camera moving around on the big crane:) At times there were multiple cameras that were rolling:) Oh my god, how exciting:) I am looking forward to more film work:) Lots of love:) Kyla 8/10/07- Hi Lindsay:) I had the best sushi today:) What is your favorite sushi? I think salmon has a unique taste. It it like a buttery feel:) It could be that salmon has omega 3's:) I hope you still roller blade. I like to go to the train parking lot after hours. I have been getting much better, so much that when I turn my wheels turn faster than expected:) We used to be able to roller blade at Hampton Beach in NH but they have banned it. Speaking of the beach, I had a double beach day last weekend. I went Saturday and Sunday:) It was so worth it. I don't use sunscreen anymore. I use coconut oil on my skin as a lotion and it is fantastic. I read that coconut oil also makes your skin more susceptible to the sun's rays. When I get out of the water I just cover up and bake in the sun:) I got twin lobsters for lunch last Saturday. The price was really good so I dragged my friend there. The food was fantastic but the place was smokey biker bar:) I will get free lobsters at my company picnic this weekend:) I want you to come with me:) You could get a stuffed panda as my guest:) Anyways I always get a guest pass but no one ever ends up going with me:( I get the guest lobster and gift:) Lots of love:) Kyla 8/14/07- Dear Lindsay:) I watched the show 'No Reservations' last night and the host was in Brazil and ate a mortedella sandwich. I used to gag at the scene of mortedella when I worked at a deli because it looks like fattened bologna. The sandwich he had had lots of melted cheese and I absolutely love cheese:) I make sure to sprinkle extra cheese in the pan when I pan fry turkey burgers so i can have fried cheese. It is such a great taste:) He mentioned famous sandwiches to try from multiple cities. He said that the signature sandwich from L.A. is the fish taco. I read some articles and reviews and it seems like the fish taco is made from a piece of fried fish and has a special sauce along with the regular taco fixings of lettuce,tomato,ect. Sounds yummy:) Where is the best place to get fish tacos? I went to my picnic this weekend and got you a stuffed panda;) I then hiked up a nearby mountain called the Blue Hill. I explored a couple of trails, climbed some steep rocks and hills and saw a deer running through the forest. The air was so fresh and the air was cooler since I was under all those trees:) I ate so much at the picnic since the shellfish was exceptional! I also gorged on ice cream and hot fudge;) I also tried raw oysters and cherry stone clams. The clams were super salty and the salt came from the ocean:) I decided to add raw oysters and clams to my experience as I love sushi:) I watched the best movie this weekend. It was called 'Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles'. It was a Chinese movie with Japanese cast members. I was able to understand most of the Japanese. The film was so moving and the best part was when the Japanese father bonded with the orphaned Chinese boy Yang Yang. The title of the film is also a title of a Chinese opera that the Japanese father's son loved. There was a rift in the relationship between father and son. The movie had so many levels and I don't want to give away the details:) I highly recommend that you watch it:) The movie shows how someone can do something for another and really strike the person at the core. The person then realizes the greatness of others. I hope that you are well and think that you would like the Blue Hill:) Lots of love:) Kyla 8/16/07- Dear Lindsay, How are you? I had to order a power supply for my PC yesterday:) I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't turn on:( Hopefully it will be fixed soon:) I will go to Hampton Beach for three days next week:) This Saturday I will take a flute lesson and climb the Blue Hill again:) I have gotten back into my buffalo turkey burger kick. I made the turkey burgers five days in a row when I first moved in because the ground turkey packages were buy one get one free:)I mix ground turkey with garlic powder and tabasco sauce then pan fry the patty and cover with cheese:) I always eat corn on the cob with my meals in the summer;) I was happy to recent photos of you:) I missed you and your beautiful face:) I hope you are well:) Loads of love:) Kyla 8/17/07- Dear Lindsay, I tried a Cinnamon Crunch bagel instead of my regular Asiago from Panera:) Mmmm good:) I bought a couple of dress patterns yesterday. I am going to try my hand at making clothes because it is so tough to find the perfect fit and I admire the handmade clothes I buy in Hampton Beach. I will do a style album at some point so you can see;) God the internet is fun, you are allowed to share everything with anyone:) My style is one of "stark contrasts". That means wearing opposite colors or opposite shades. An example would be wearing a white skirt with pink embroidery with a black shirt and black wedges,my favorite type of shoes, and a white pearl necklace. I think the contrast makes everything stand out:) I have an idea of making a black skirt with pastel color embroidery. I imagine random patterns with an intertwined flower:) I will take a picture when I am finished:) I got the idea of "stark contrasts" from an art project in elementary school. We used crayons to fill a piece of white paper with colors then put black paint over it. After the paint dried we would take scissors and scratch a design:) Pretty cool,huh:) That was my favorite thing to do back then. I read your interview with "Elle" and loved the pictures:) The more I look at your blond hair, the more I like it on you:) My favorite picture was the one with the sunglasses:) I also liked one when you were leaning backwards and had your eyelashes done in such a way that showed them off really well:) You are so pretty and have so many more credits than others who are in the media that you don't have to compete for the sensationalist attention in the gossip magazines. You should strive for attention on the silver screen, as a model and featured in interviews as the one with Elle:) You have my undivided attention in those areas:) Lots of love sprinkled with flower petals:) Kyla 8/20/07- Dear Lindsay, I went hiking again yesterday. I went on a challenging uphill course that required I climb up rocks. After I finished that one I went on a straighter path that was mostly rock free. It is like one of those places that is so close to you yet you never bother to go. I will continue this through the fall. Maybe you can join me then we can go for sushi(my treat);) Hehehe wishful thinking:) I started sixteenth notes on my flute this week:) I can see why it is said that music students are good at math. It is all dealing with fractions. Everytime you divide a note in half it is twice as fast and timing is all relative when you have a piece with quarter,eighth and sixteenth notes. In some pieces this week there are groups of notes that consist of an eighth note followed by two sixteenth notes followed by an eighth note. The two sixteenth notes are faster than the surrounding notes and when I play it I see the effect it creates. I will make a youtube video of me playing the flute soon:) Then you can see. My sound is good too:) My teacher recommended that I practice with the headjoint a bit out so my ear can hear the different pitches. Bringing the headjoint a bit out creates a flatter sound. I guess with my headjoint in I am always sharp:) I associate names and words with food alot of times. The word sharp makes me think of cheddar cheese. That makes sense because I love "sharp" cheddar cheese. It kind of has this tanginess to it:) Do you play an instrument? If not, would you like to try? I also started making my dress this weekend:) I cut the pattern pieces out,choose my fabric, bought some extra sewing supplies as well as some embriodery thread. There are some sewing terms that I have to learn. I will go to Hampton Beach for three days in the middle of the week. It is only supposed to be in the mid 70's but we are still dealing with the summer sun so it will be nice:) I am a dedicated boogie boarder so I will be out in that water;) When I went hiking yesterday it was in the mid 70's and I still broke a sweat. Love, Kyla:) 8/24/07- Dear Lindsay:) How are you? I am doing fine. I came back yesterday after three days at the beach. Wednesday was sunny yet only 70 degrees and the other two days were cloudy. I went into the water and the waves were wild:) I had to keep brushing sand off of me. Tomorrow is supposed to be 90 degrees so I think I will go up tomorrow as well:) I want you to come:) I had twin lobsters for dinner one night:) I bought a cute outfit that was on clearance. It is a hot pink cotton skirt and black tank top with pink lace straps and a colorful iron-on picture of a refreshing drink. I would have to show you:) I tried it on and thought, what a cool rollerblading outfit:) I wonder what you would think. I will post a picture soon:) I want to take tap lessons now:) I learned jazz dance when I was young and have always wanted to try tap. I tried my new outfit on in the dressing room and started tapping as best I could;) It looked like a great outfit for that as well:) We tried to hook up the power supply on my computer and it works but the hard drive isn't spinning. There is power going to the hard drive and it works if we plug it into another PC. I had purchased an extended warranty on my computer so a technician will come and fix it now. I think the system board might have to be replaced. After all it was a good idea to purchased that warranty:) My flute practice has been tough lately. I have to practice slow since the fingerings are so hard. It is of utmost importance to get the rhythm right. So far the quarter note has been the main one to get the beat, like in a 4/4 measure, and sometimes the eighth note is the one to get the beat. When the eighth notes get the beat,like in a 3/8 measure, and I have a piece with eighth and sixteenth notes it is easier for me to play than a piece in which the quarter note gets the beat and there are eighth notes and sixteenth notes. In the latter case, the quarter notes are longer than they should be:) That only happens when I start learning a piece. I feel the rhythm but not the pulse. I don't know if this makes sense but it is exciting for me:) I can imagine how people would dance to some of the tunes as well and that inspires me. I have been working on the off-beat as well. When you count music and the main beat is the quarter note, like in a 4/4 measure, you need to play the quarter notes each time you say 1 2 3 4 in your head. With the off-beat you play on 1, don't play on 2 but between 2 and 3, play on 3, don't play on 4 but between 4 and the 1st beat of the next measure. It is getting exciting:) Love, Kyla 8/27/07- Dear Lindsay, I went to the beach on Saturday and enjoyed the 90+ degree weather as well as the 60 degree ocean water. I couldn't get out of the water! The waves were wild and literally pushing me in:) This lady got a kick out of me riding all the way into shore. I also got alot of compliments on my boogie boarding skill which I have been honing since childhood:) Sunday was cloudy and humid. I went rollerblading and shopping at a store that specializes in selling discount designer clothes. I bought some blue Cult jeans. I absolutely loved the wash and the embroidery on the front pockets. I prefer the darker blue jeans. I also got a flowing purple skirt for like 5 bucks:) I made the best eggplant parmesean on Friday with lots of melted cheese and it was baked to perfection:) I love the fresh sliced roma tomatoes as well:) Mmmm good:) I also roasted a bunch of garlic too and spread it on the eggplant after:) What is the most exciting part of being an actress? I think it is learning new skills for roles:) Aren't you learning tango? I want to take tap lessons:) We had a cookout yesterday and I started talking in my southern accent:) I love the way the southerner's talk. I slip into it a lot:) Can you imitate any accents? Love, Kyla 9/4/07- Dear Lindsay, I hope you are well:) The weekend was awesome. I went hiking on Saturday and Sunday and to the beach on Monday since it was a holiday:) The water was beautiful. It was dry heat. I bought another outfit of capris and a pink cotton shirt for like 13 bucks. It was because everything in the store was 50 percent off, it being the end of the season and all. I also got some triple chocolate ice cream. Mmmm so good. It is the little things that excite me in life:) The beach wasn't as busy as I expected. September is the death of the beach season up here:( Next weekend's forecast is calling for nice weather so I will be up there again. It is contradictory, September is the death of the beach season yet the water is the warmest in September:) I got tons of fresh air this weekend:) I watched a behind the scenes Elle interview and you looked so beautiful describing fall fashion. You said that studs are a definite for fall:) I loved the sunglasses that you wore:):) Mmmmm mmmm so hot;) Utsukushii. Lindsay ha utsukushii dayo:) Utsukushii is a Japanese word that means 'beautiful' but it is only used for important people and to describe a rare beauty:) An English translation is extreme-abosolute- no-one-else-has-it beauty:) You seem to like black as well:) My favorite color for a car is black and I also think I look the best in black clothes:) It just brings out everything else like your eyes and jewelry. It also makes your skin glow:) My computer was fixed yesterday. The guy replaced the motherboard. I had purchased an extended warranty so I didn't have to pay for the service:) Now everything works:) My cable,phone and computer:) You like to DJ? Cool:) You should spice up your collection with some J-Pop(Japanese pop). Highly recommended is anything Aiko and Otsuka Ai's Sakuranbo:) Sakuranbo means the cherries. The song is a cutesy description of two people who like each and are like sakuranbo. Those cherries usually come in pairs and as she says in the song ~ 'tonari doushi anata to atashi sakaranbo'. It translates as 'me and you like two cherries together'. Lots of love, Kyla:) 9/7/07- Dear Lindsay, Hi sweetie:) I hope that you are doing well. I signed up for an adult tap class yesterday. The classes run in 8 week sessions. I start next Thursday:) I am able to do the shuffle. I studied it on youtube. I found a video about tap dancing in Japanese. I never thought about searching youtube for videos in Japanese to practice my listening comprehension:) Next up on my journey of lifelong learning is Irish language. There is an Irish Cultural Center in the next town over that teaches the language, Irish set dancing and Irish instruments. I have had some Irish tunes to play on my flute. The flute and violin are popular in Irish music. I have to search for tap shoes this weekend. I want the paten-leather high-heeled ones:) I read that you have Italian ancestry. Do you have a family sauce recipe? The guys that live above us are Italian and I smelled the most wonderful aroma of sauce and I had to inquire if it was the family recipe. I got a piece of lasagna out of it:) My mother is half Italian and her sauce as well as mine is kind of tangy. We put lots of garlic and can't forget the brown sugar to cut the acid:) Of course there is an assortment of spices;) Some Italians put meats in their sauces and allow them to simmer all day:) I don't have the time to do that:) Those sauces are delicious:) One of my pet peeves is trying authenic food:) I mean totally non-Americanized but that is hard to find as Americans usually cannot handle the spice of authenic Thai, Chinese or Indian food. American Chinese food is made up and contains so much salt. I have met many Chinese people who don't know what General Tsau's chicken is and don't like the fact that the sauces are thickened with wheat flour. I don't like to go to Chinese resturants. Indian food is usually quite spicy. I had a vindaloo curry once and ate the whole chili pepper in the middle. My mouth was on fire. I tried a mango curry once at a buffet and it was so delicious:) I also love to pile the curries on that basamati rice:) Mmmm good:) Lindsay, there is so much to life and when you realize that the possibilities just explode. You become interested in many things and want to try everything. I will go in the beginning of October. I am going to visit a friend who is doing research over there. I am excited:) I want to explore the natural landscapes and experience the local food:) Tommorow I start tap class. Yipeeeee. I have seen pictures of you streching on a dance bar, have you ever taken tap? I'll bet you were a ballerina:) The shoes run big so I got a size 6. I bought the best whole wheat english muffins from Trader Joe's. I finished off a package in two days so I went back yesterday and purchased two more:) They are so delicious with the stoneground whole wheat. I think they include alot of bran and I am nuts over bran:) Lots of love, Kyla:) 9/20/07- Dear Lindsay, How are you? I am doing good:) I received the Rosetta Stone for Swedish yesterday. I am interested in learning the language anyways but I thought I would start it before I go:) The software is cool:) They show you pictures, say a word and have you pick what picture represents the word. Then they move on to simple phrases like 'girl and car'. You start to recognize patterns and that is how you learn the language:) I went through six lessons last night. Some of the words can be recognized by us English speakers but the pronunciation isn't always what we would think:) I love languages:) I might become addicted:) I wanna learn Irish, Arabic, Hindi and Thai:) Tonight I have my second tap class:) I am looking forward to it:) I saw a picture of you with your new weave:) Your hair is so long now. You look like rapunzel and beautiful as always;)Utsukushii!!!! My hair is down my back now and filling in more at the top:) It is nice to feel that hair on my back.Natsukashii, Japanese for good memory:) I am working on dotted eighth notes now. They are usually followed by a sixteenth note. I my mind I need to split the note into 4 parts since there are four sixteenth notes in a quarter note. I have to make a sound on 1 and 4. It is difficult but music is so worth it:) Some songs that use dotted eighth notes are 'O Christmas Tree', the bridal song 'here comes the bride....' and O My Darling Clementine:) A dot after a note extends the note for 1/2 it's value. I am also using a new key on my flute to make the G# and Ab notes. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo Kyla:) 9/26/07- Dear Lindsay:) I hope all is well:) Ugghhhh my teeth are feeling better. When my monthly comes along I usually have these strange things happen. Of course the usual attitude,irratibility comes along but it is usually accompanied by a headache or a sore mouth. My mouth was sore for a week and my teeth felt like they had pressure on them. I was so worried. I decided to wait and see if the soreness subsided and it did luckily:) Next week I will be in Sweden! I will be thinking about you the whole time:) I was going to send you a letter to the Cirque Lodge but was worried that it would be imposing:( I will probally send you one to your fan club:) I would only hope that you would read it:) I love the hot and humid weather that is sticking around up here:) I am praying for you and hope that you are becoming a strong soul who can be faced with temptations and turn them away. I am always up for mom's lasagna:) I made the garlic bread, always a welcome addition:) I brought home the rest of my homemade cornbread because I didn't want it to go bad. I made it with wheat flour instead of white flour. It had quite the different taste. I would say a little more hearty:) I love to toast leftover cornbread and smother it with butter:) I distinctly remember my first experience with this cornbread recipe, it was in seventh grade and we had read a short story called "The Pearl" in school. The mother was eating cornbread and that night my mom made this cornbread recipe. Ever since then I think of this story when I have this cornbread:) I love to talk about food, if you haven't noticed:) I have gotten into indoor rock climbing again:) I heard that you did that in Utah:) Did you like it? I wish that we could go together sometime. You are taller than me so you can reach the holds better:) I have been trying to cure myself of using my arms too much:) I am still playing the flute:) I am starting to play some "real" music:) I have piano accompaniments to play along with. Last week I played Nocturne, it was so beautiful. The initial slur lasted 11 beats and was a little bit beyond my breath capacity:) I saw "I Know Who Killed Me" and it seems that you play the piano:) Lindsay-chan(chan is a Japanese suffix attached to names of people you adore), I want you to play the piano for me:) What lifeline would you choose now that you are away from substances? Here are some ideas: Instruments? Languages? Dancing? Acting? Cooking? A lifeline helps you concentrate on your personal development and build self-esteem:) I cannot wait to see your tango dancing skills come to light:) By the way, what classical television programs do you like? I grew up on tv land and classical tv. I didn't watch alot of the popular shows. My favorites are Mister Ed,Dennis the Menace and I Love Lucy:) I rent Mister Ed through netflix:) I love that show, especially when Ed walks into the house and when Wilbur personifies him and gets funny looks:) Talk to you soon, Love, Kyla xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo 2/5/2008- Hi Lindsay:) I hope that you are well:) I love karaoke:) I am happy that I don't get shy when I am singing:) I always practice in the mirror and when i am doing dishes:) I went to a casting call a few weeks ago:) There are many movies coming to Boston:) All I can do is keep trying:) I am still playing the flute. I am learning harmonics, which occur when you hear two octaves at once:) You finger the lower note and overblow a bit to get this octave. There is another type of harmonic in which you hear the lower note and the next octave of a different note(5th step up). The former is easier and I actually used to do it when I was learning how to blow:) Tap dance is going well. We learned the Maxie ford step last week:) It is so much fun. I have also been practicing double Irishes and drawbacks:) I also like my own company:) I also keep a journal and love to watch tv and netflix:) My guilty pleasure is to watch classic cartoons and tv shows that I grew up on:) I have Strawberry Shortcake coming as well as Mickey Mouse:) Cartoons were so much better when I was younger. At least there were not many characters, if any, that didn't speak in a legitimate language. I find cartoon characters that mumble and make funny sounds to be disturbing and not a good thing for children to grow up on. I have so many favorites, The Smurfs, Jetsons, Inspector Gadget, Scooby Doo, Strawberry Shortcake, Alvin and the Chipmunks and so many more:) Besides keeping my own company, I rock climb and go to karaoke once a week:) They are great ways to meet new people:) Rock climbing was a little rough last night since I skipped a few weeks due to American Idol:) I also played the flute for a few people and did fabulous:) I hope that your movie tour will bring you to Boston:) Lots of love:) Kyla:):):) 6/10/08- Dear Lindsay:) I went to the beach for the first time on Sunday. We are in the midst of a heat wave now and it was like 100 degrees but the 52 degree water was refreshing:) I went boogie boarding for a couple of hours. The waves were big for New Hampshire:) I prefer to cover up instead of fuss with sunscreen. I wear a shirt in the water and sit under an umbrella when I am not in the water. It worked well:) I love taking a walk along the beach too:) The air is so refreshing:) I found a new tap teacher; she goes at a faster pace and doesn't do a lot of the things my last teacher did:) We learned two new steps in the last class:) I have been studying the shim sham shimmy through the Tap With the Masters DVD. I have got the first chorus down:) I have grown to love tap:) I just started last September. Uuuugh, in my last class we learned a new step every month and the teacher would always cut the class 15 minutes short between talking and dismissing us 5 minutes early. I remember one time we had learned a new step and she dismissed us five minutes early. I wanted to practice a few more times to get it cemented in my head but she told me to get out. After all of the un-professionalism I decided not to return. It is a relief that I am in a better class and this teacher focuses alot on technique. I bought a board at Home Depot to tap on so I can hear the sounds and I am much too sweet to tap on the polished hardwoods in my apartment:) I am still taking the flute, it has been a year and a half:) I am working on the third E(above the staff). I now have slurred dotted eighths followed by a sixteenth:) There hasn't been too many new movies in the area, hopefully soon:) I was asked to work on a movie but I was need for two days and was going to be Sweden for one of them so I had to pass:( I never hear any celebrities talk about Sweden as much as they Italy and France:) However, I highly recommend Stockholm. It is a clean city and you can swim in the lake located in the middle of the hustle and bustle:) The literal forest in the middle of the city too is a great testament to some respectable nature preservation:) You can go on a hike in the middle of the city:) I am a big fan of the salmon sushi too since it is made from local salmon that isn't cultivated:) I love the bike culture, so many people ride bikes. It is the same in Japan too:) I still keep up my Japanese. I have these cool books that have the Japanese text of famous novels along with the English meanings and built in dictionary. The cultural nuances are explained as well:) I am continuing to study Swedish and am starting to learn Thai:) Thai is fun since it is a tonal language:) Of course I bought the accompanying CD's so I could hear the sounds:) I was thinking about it the other day, my hobbies all involve studying:) Flashback to my school days when I loved to study:) I heart your new song:) I love the gong sound at the beginning and I think that the whole song has a cool dance beat:):) Talk to you soon:) xoxoxxoxoxoxoxo Kyla:) 6/26/08- Dear Lindsay:) Sometimes I go back and read my letters that I have written to you for almost a year now and it is like traveling into a time capsule. A few weeks ago I got a nice reddish brown beach tan. It was kind of a toss up between being a tan and a burn. I guess it was a burn because I am peeling:( I picked strawberries for the first time last weekend:) They are delicious and provide some fresh vitamins:) Strawberries only last for a couple of weeks and then it is blueberry followed by peach season:) Of course tomatoes too:) You know what fresh tomatoes mean.... BLTs(bacon lettuce and tomato) along with my freshly baked cajun spice fries:) I love trader joes ketchup, it reminds me more of a bbq sauce:) I have recently become addicted to alfredo sauce from trader joes. I add spinach to it and toss it with wheat pasta:) Yummmmmy it is so good:) I am continuing to love tap and flute:):) I was supposed to go hiking today but the weather isn't going to work out:( I enjoy the humidity though:) Whenever humidity is present so aren't thunderstorms:( If someone had to ask me what I hate most, I would say that it is air conditioning. The air conditioning just doesn't feel good to me. I think it is because I grew up without it and it feels like you are walking into a refrigerator with it on. It also gives me a headache.....
