The name Kapa Shanti (Kindly-Appreciate-People- And Stop-Hating-Another-Nation- That's- I) alone has a powerful meaning to it. Kapa Shanti’s parents migrated from Guyana when he was still a little boy. He later joined his parents in the U.S. to live on the Island of Shaolin (Staten Island) in 1986. At that time, he began focusing on a musical career. In 1989, Kapa Shanti met his best friend, Popular, who is from the parish of St. Mary in Jamaica and also shares a passion for music. Working together with Popular from 1989-1991 helped to launch Kapa Shanti’s music career.
My musical influences include reggae stars like Freddie McGregor, Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Yellowman, Fathead and many more. His main influence is Rexton Gorden a.k.a. Shabba Ranks. Kapa Shanti also enjoys R & B such artist like Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Cool and the Gang. Kapa Shanti performed on various shows and eventually worked with entertainers such as Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Beanie Man, Buju Bantan, Luciano, Sparrow, Lady Saw, Sean Paul, Capleton, and many more. Some of the shows were held at Randals Island, Steple Chase Park, Keyspan Park, St. George Theater and the Georgia Music Fest. Becoming a famous local artist, Kapa Shanti was invited to be on a couple of radio stations. In 2006, Jabba from Hot 97 in New York, hosted a mixed cd which highlighted Kapa Shanti ended up selling ten thousand copies.
Kapa Shanti is currently working on his debut album. He wants people to be inspired by his music aspirations. Kapa Shanti hopes to travel to various places including Africa, Europe, North and South America. Kapa Shanti believes that music should be used to uplift people and inspire their spirit
