A sorority based on serving the Hispanic community, Kappa Delta Chi is the strongest network of Latina leaders in the country. Among our members, you will find doctors, lawyers, teachers, activists, mothers, daughters and of course, sisters. Since 1987, KDChi has been helping young Latinas achieve the dream of a higher education and become successful women leaders. Members are recognized annually for their academic achievements and exemplary service contributions. Chapters have been acknowledged at their respective cities and universities as well for their outstanding projects and commitment to the community. Welcome to our website and we hope to be part of your family in the future.
The Purpose of Kappa Delta Chi is to promote the values of Unity, Honesty, Integrity and Leadership among women at colleges and universities. Through numerous service events, sisterhood retreats, academic and cultural workshops, KDChi’s learn more about themselves and each other. They sprout into impacting leaders and help guide the next generation to success.
KDChi is a non-traditional sorority full of diverse members and eager young ladies ready to make a difference in their communities. With your sisters, anything is possible. Endless memories are created as an undergraduate member of KDChi but many more await us after graduation.
Chapters hold local events throughout the year. Contact the chapters directly for calendar of events and for opportunities to volunteer with fellow sisters. If you are interested in becoming a member of Kappa Delta Chi, you may contact your local chapter.
If there is not a Kappa Delta Chi chapter at your local university, you may contact the External Recruitment Officer at extrecruitment@kappadeltachi.org.
The sorority is also an umbrella to the National Alumni Association (NAA), which is a central network for our own professionals. As the NAA grew and became involved in more philanthropic efforts, several Kappa Delta Chi Alumnae saw the need for Kappa Delta Chi to contribute on a greater level and in 2000 created the Kappa Delta Chi National Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit entity that awarded $3,000 in scholarships in 2004 to high school seniors across the country. It also donated over $5,000 to our national philanthropy, the American Cancer Society. All chapters of Kappa Delta Chi participated in an annual Bowl-A-Thon in their respective cities to raise the funds for this donation.
Since its inception in 1987, young women of all origins and backgrounds have joined to fulfill Kappa Delta Chi’s purpose and uphold its values: Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership. No matter what field of study or choice of school, educated young ladies have come together to create a strong network base that serves the community, emphasizing on the Hispanic population. Through numerous conferences, scholarships, benefits and, most importantly, service events, local chapters have made their marks at their respective universities.
A prime example of our commitment to leadership can be seen at our Pi chapter at The University of Texas at Austin. These sisters hosts an annual Longhorn Leaders Day Conference that brings an average of 100 at-risk high school sophomores to the campus and educates them on topics such as “How to pay for college”, “How to choose a major”, and “What can I expect from college”.
Similarly, the Alpha Gamma Chapter at The California State University, Dominguez Hlls, co-sponsors the Latino Retention Conference, which celebrates the Latino Culture through several educational workshops and interactive events.
In Arizona, the Delta Chapterat at University of Arizona, Kappa Chapter at Northern Arizona University, and Lambda Chapter at Arizona State University, come together in Phoenix every year to feed the homeless and participate in a clothing drive.
Kappa Delta Chi also takes pride in graduating strong community activists. Teachers, nurses, engineers, politicians, entrepreneurs, doctors, mothers and military officials are all examples of the alumni that are part of our sorority. Alumni are involved in community groups such as the Hispanic Women’s Network, Comadres and the National Hispanic Institute. First influencing the student bodies and then the corporate world as strong women, KDChi’s are impacting the world everyday.
The accomplishments of becoming a producer for young leaders and impacting the community would not have been possible without the vision of our four founders and the continued devotion of all its members. Together, sisters and supporters have made KDChi into the premiere Latina sorority.
