By day I'm a music/entertainment publicist located in Melbourne Australia and by night I am an International woman of mystery and intrigue.... Ok, I ain't that hard to find - I'm usually at a gig.
I represent some of Australia's most talented musicians and have also done publicity for some great events including The AGE EG Music Awards Concerts 2006 and 2007, WANTED , Rock For The Roses (musical benefit for Cystic Fibrosis), Love Bucket Benefit Concert for New Orleans in Melbourne (featuring The Lost Soul Queen Of New Orelans Betty Harris & Lazy Lester!) and the Pete Wells Melbourne Benefit Concert. More recently I worked on Barry Adamson's tour and album publicity in Oz and you can see a snapshot of that coverage at www.karenconradpublicity.com and find new artists I'm working with, too.
I also helped organise the very first Hunter S. Thompson wake/party held in Australia, at the fabulous Cherry Bar (located in AC/DC Lane Melbourne) in conjunction with the infamous Dodgy Brothers. Stan Jarin (archivist, art director supremo and bibliographer) who dreamed up the idea to call the party "Wake The Doctor."
I've worked on a few fantastic indie dvd films including Electra: The Music of Penny Ikinger, The Complete Daddy Cool & Glenn Tilbrook: One For The Road.
My Australian clients include Zoophyte, The Darling Downs, Penny Ikinger, Charles Jenkins and Fulton Girls Club. I have also worked with Nicky Bomba, Joe Camilleri, Ross Wilson, Daddy Cool, The Josh Owen Band, The Dukes of Windsor and others to numerous to list.
My International clients include Barry Adamson, Glenn Tilbrook, Adrian Belew and Ramblin' Jack Elliott. I toured Adrian in 2006, Ramblin' Jack in 2004 and the mighty Glenn Tilbrook with Buzz Bidstrup in 2007. I'll be bringing Adrian Belew over again soon (watch this space for a major announcement soon!) And the amazing Mr Tilbrook will be here again in January.
I'm also a music critic and journalist and you can read my review and interviews in beat magazine at beat.com.au on the web or pick up a copy in print anywhere in Melbourne and the immediate surrounds.
