   About Karen Mulcahey
News! The all new 'Karen Mulcahey band'. Karen Mulcahey has a 2nd album limited edition out! Catch her at her new gig and watch this space for Karen's next 3 major gig parties to get her 2nd album 'It's lost in the taking' and to join the music movement like no other: The Karen Mulcahey band movement! We are here to provide music that will be remembered in 40 years time! We are here to write brilliant songs and to stand out vocally and musically from the 'in crowd' to create our own crowd belonging to those who are vital, those who spy change, those who don't fit in to one place or group, it's music for the soul and the brain so that both may grow! Karen has got a new band! Featuring new guitarist Mark Oates, bass player gary Solomon and Drummer 'the note' Dave Timmons! Below see the biog of karen Mulcahey and reviews: Find Your Way is the arresting debut from Rotherham artist Karen Mulcahey. She smashes into smithereens the clichéd myth of the female singer-songwriter as floaty, whimsical and romantically introspective. Her powerful voice - accompanied by guitarist Luke Pepper- resonates with passion, anger and defiance. Styles vary across the ten-track recording, from blues, to folk, to country, to rock. The subtle, intelligent lyrics cover a range of subjects, including journeys, disappointment in love and life, personal and political struggle. Ultimately though, the mood is uplifting. Find your way, sings Mulcahey hopefully at the end of the record, holding out a hand to all of us who know what it means to be lost.

Karen Mulcahey's Biography:

Karen Mulcahey was born in Liverpool, raised on a council estate in Warrington, England. Even in these formative years Karens unholy voice and her obsession with music was obvious to anyone who met her. It was at this early stage in her life that Karen learned the basics of the guitar and began to write her own songs. She was brought up on RocknRoll / Blues and later discovered folk, jazz and early crooner tunes. As a teenager Karen could be found busking with her guitar by the markets in Warrington.

At 18 yrs Karen left home for Lancaster University where she studied theatre, wrote, performed and directed shows. Perhaps it is Karens experience of drama that makes her such an engaging and powerful performer with a presence that has been commented on much.

After university Karen co-founded a touring theatre company and spent the next few years alternating between odd jobs, the dole queue and touring original theatre nationally. Throughout all her adventures Karen continued to sing in bands and write songs.

Over the last few years her song writing has become unwieldly and Karen has gigged her original material around England and Scotland, featuring at The Endinburgh Festival and in Big note venues around London. Karen started by doing acoustic sets with guitarist Luke Pepper and has now extended to full band sets with the new band above!

Karens work has received critical acclaim from both musicians and audiences alike. She has been praised for her refreshing sound and thoughtful, gripping lyrics that suggest maturity beyond her years. Its time for the world to discover this unique and inspiring talent.

check out www.karenmulcahey.com for her impressive list of gigs nationwide and watch out for her 2nd album 'It's lost in the taking' and her utube tour and music video coming soon....

Singer, song-writer, dashing in gentleman's clothing... What an amazing person you are.

Hope you are well. I had a really good time this past weekend, and chilling out with Jay, you, Mel, and Simon (and of course, my lover, Jay... does he really need a mention? He was the reason why I was there to begin with.)

We will have to meet up again somehow.

Hi Karen,

Great meeting you the other night - I had a wonderful time, really glad we went to the Casbah in the end, haven't danced like that in far too long.

Let me know if/when you want me to do any photos. Also, I might be able to help out if you're still in need of transport for gigs. Meanwhile, here's a photo from Thursday, plenty more which I may upload at some point, depending on how much you pay me not to :)

By the way, I love your music.

Woo!first comment!!awesumness! well i must say im loving the blues rocky style uv got going on there rite up my alley! sum good structured songs but to be honest as critisism, cuz it does help sumtimes, i wud like to hear a more variety of range vocally and possibly introduce other aspects of instruments just to lively if nething the songs up?!cuz they r very minor and maybe a repeatitive chorus with strong holding of the voice would wud a bit more grasping! however really gud thow!!! like it a lot. dan
