A Music City newcomer, Karista Smith has been called "One of the Freshest voices out of Nashville.” But the singer and the voice got their start a little further West…
The California Desert.
Born in Palm Springs, CA the singer/songwriter and Nashville Recording Artist grew up in a small desert
town called Yucca Valley. “I just love the rugged beauty of the desert and the mountains; it’s so breathtaking and inspiring”
Rapidly being recognized for her amazing vocal and live
performances, Karista has already appeared in-studio
& received airplay on exclusive Clear Channel & CBS Owned radio stations, sang for over 40,000 at Oregon State’s Reser Stadium and entertained thousands with
her fun and upbeat live shows. Karista is a popular opener as well as headliner. She opened for Travis Tritt, Tracy Bryd, Richie McDonald of Lonestar, Tracy Lawrence, and with Tim McGraw & Carrie Underwood; wowed them at Stagecoach Festival ‘08. “ALot of people suggested her" said Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice/AEG Live "She went over great!” Karista will be joining the great new lineup of the KFRG Sponsered The Wagon Wheel Country Music Festival '09 with Jason Aldean, Phil Vassar and other of your favorite artists! Entertaining is Karista’s greatest joy. “I’d love to play in front of every single person that’s followed me from the start”. Her loyal fan base stretches across the US & Canada and reaches as far as Europe, Australia & Asia!
Recorded in Nashville, her 11 Song album was mixed byLee J. Turner and Grammy Nominated veterans;Chuck Ainlay and Jeff Balding with Mastering by Hank Williams of Master Mix.
The music video for her first single, “Simple” was shot by 6-time Emmy Award winning Fluid Images home of the 100’ Strada Camera Crane and known for such films as Titanic, Sea Biscuit, Transformers and Spiderman.
Other Fluid credits include work on Brooks & Dunn and Shania Twain music videos.
Musical success began at just 14 when the first song Karista wrote was picked up by Epic Records. Followed by an appearances on CBS’s Star Search and Family Channel’s New Original Amateur Hour.
Karista left home for Los Angeles in pursuit of a career in country music, but landed in a popular swing band called the Speak Easy Spies. As lead singer and songwriter, her song “Hey Kat” hit Billboard’s Top 200. But longing to return to the music that first inspired her, Karista left the Swing Scene behind. She went back to the California Desert to focus on her songwriting and emerged with a collection of both personal and uplifting songs that are connecting with Country enthusiasts of all ages. Thus marking the beginning of her rapid and seemingly endless rise that is being met with such excitement from fans & industry alike.
"This is a dream come true and I hope that you will enjoy taking this journey with me!"...Karista

Hi Karista,
I am just checking up to see how you are doing. I do hope you are feeling well. Love your new video and your music. Are there any plans in the works to travel to NC? My daughter and her husband is stationed at Fort Hood. I was in shock as to what happened. Thank God she was deployed and in Iraq. I had to make some quick phone calls to make sure she had not returned and was safe. Take care, and be safe. Hope to meet you someday.
