mostly Tom Nelson, Scott McDonald and Luke Kessel, sometimes Andy Janowiak, Randy Artiglere and Brian Kornfeld, recently Derek Davidowich and Joe Dubbiosi, occasionally Eric "Reeses" Jones and Rich Phillips, sometimes Kevin Fry or Mark Hindermann, once or twice Brian Bridge filled in, and there was that one bass player from North Jersey, etc... Influences
Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Phish, Pete Townshend and the Who, Beatles, anything Chris Cornell sings, Bernie Worrell, P-Funk, Rolling Stones, Dyer Weed, and the guys who influenced my playing: Elton John (for his melodies), Billy Joel (for his songwriting), Ben Folds (for his attitude), Bruce Hornsby (for being the only Dead keyboard player still alive) and Keith Jarrett (for never missing a note - bastard!). And anyone who plays because they want to play.

...Karl Dietel has made the move from cover band to national
act to budding solo career. One part classical
lessons, one part music theory, (in which he earned a
liberal arts emphasis from Boston University) and the
life experiences of playing 48 states over the last 10
years provides the spectrum of music Karl draws from
when he plays. The New Jersey native has over 20
independent cd credits to his name ..boards, bass
guitar, harmonica and as producer. He has recorded
with Bernie Worrell (P-Funk) and Garth Hudson (The
Band) and shared the stage with artists ranging from
Brian Vander Ark (Verve Pipe) to Trey Anastasio
(Phish). He is best known as the keyboard player for
the road-warrior touring band The Samples, having
spent the last six years in a tour bus playing over
100 shows a year throughout the United States. He
recently released his debut cd, “Please Allow Me to
Introduce Myself,” on which his melodic sensibilities
and The Stranger-era Billy Joel influences are on full
display.
"Did you hear the cops finally busted Madame Marie for tellin' fortunes better than they do?"
So sang Bruce Springsteen over 30 years ago in his song "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)". Sadly, yesterday, July 1, 2008, that grand old fortuneteller and fixture of the Asbury boardwalk passed away at the age of 93.

cock diesel: A human entity that is extremely muscular and ripped out of control. So ripped in fact, that they cannot even turn around to wipe their own ass.
