About me: One half of The Nimmo Twins, Norwich's answer to the question; "Who's the Little and Large tribute act getting no laughs over there?" Born in Bungay, raised in Great Yarmouth, fled to Norwich in 1992.
Joined several local bands including The Splendids, Venus Envy (?!!)People Connection, The Rainbyrds, before giving up the idea of being a bass guitarist in a successful band (Apart from 2005 when I joined Catherine Feeny's band and played some of the biggest gigs of my life (which was nice).
Joined the Theatre Royal Arts Course in 1992 and staggered through two terms of acting classes. Joined Crude Apache Theatre Company in October 1994 and spent the next two years writing and performing in shows; Billy Bluelight, On the Ball Cinders, Tumland Tales, Kett's Rebellion, Malcolm The Eighth. Also turned up in various other shows and plays including Stephen Berkoff's Kvetch and Romeo and Juliet.
Wrote and performed first Normal for Norfolk Show in 1996 with Platform One Theatre Company. Formed The Nimmo Twins in 1997 with Owen Evans and went to Edinburgh Festival the same year with debut show Posh Spice Nude! Signed to agency and made first TV appearances three months later on BBC1's The Stand Up Show. 1998 Edinburgh show, Charged and Sentenced was a five star sell-out and earned us appearances at the New York and Singapore Comedy Festival. Lovely! Oh and Newcastle and Glasgow, and Brighton and Cheltenham.
Myself and Owen became regulars on Radio 4's Loose Ends and got our first Radio series; The Nimmo Twins In.. in 1999 and took third show to Edinburgh which sold out again. Returned to Singapore in 2001, and Paris for radio show ith Bill Bailey and Jane Birkin!!! Bizarre!Myself and Owen also rather notoriously became the 'faces' of Adnams beer in a two year campaign that saw us on beer mats, urinal stickers and most worryingly, your televisions. Adnams sales rocketed by 15%-hatred of us practically trebled.
I started doing stand up in November 2000 in London and in 2001 fluked my way to winnning the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award. The prize took me to Montreal, where I shared a stage with Jimmy Carr, Al Murray and the late great Malcolm Hardee and his naked balloon dancers. I then played the Melbourne Comedy Festival in front of a brown trousering 2500 people and a countrywide TV audience.
In 2002 the first series of The Rapid Eye Movement starring Martin Freeman and Chris Langham came out on Radio 4 and ran for two more series until 2004.In the same year I wrote Shakespeare's Fools for Radio 3 with a terrifying cast including Joss Ackland, Roger Lloyd Pack and Sylvester McCoy recorded at Wilton's Music Hall in London which was beautiful.
I then wrote the comedy drama, Voices from The East End with Colin Sell arranging my songs and Simon Day (The Fast Show) taking the lead. We recorded it live at Theatre Royal Stratford East, where the ghost of Joan Littlewood looked on disapprovingly.
In 2006 I wrote Moonmonkeys, a pilot for BBC 3, but buggered it up. Have just finished writing Cats Eyes, a one off comedy drama for BBC 3 and material for Touch Me, I'm Karen Taylor! which is on air now!!!and Phil Nichol's pilot TV show.
Spent early 2008, working on Trexx and Flipside, a new BBC3 sitcom, on later this year. Cat's Eyes is now in production. premiering on BBCi later this year.
Normal for Norfolk shows no signs of stopping, despite the best efforts of two or three people. NFN 11 has just finished, albeit a little late, and NFN 12 will happen sometime in the future. This Summer, I'll be splitting time between here and London, working on scripts. It's all gravy. Apart from that stain there, which may be yoghurt.

Just a small note on Slodovian history, we are still waiting for our Marxist revolution, Slodovia has been a Monachist, psudo religious princeapality for the last thousand years. As far as povity is concerned the average wage is 70,000 Turdis, the equivalent of 150,000 of your Norfolk pounds. If you would like to help with the The S.R.M.C's revolutionary committee send a stamped addressed envelope to", "Lets tear down the the decadent fictional Slodovian autocracy", Krannnasstrasssa, Clit. Dearest Karl, you dont know me but I have often sat in the audience listening to your wit and being cheered up by your comedy. So when I heard the dreadful news from Jo I was devestated. How can one human being do that to another? I wish you a speedy recovery. I am so very very sorry - if I can help in any way please do not hesistate to ask.
Cheers for the add (or whatever it is you say!) Hope you are feeling a bit better after what happened with those tawsers. Hope to see the show Friday 21st if you're up to it, if not I will be at the new date with bells on! By the way, off topic a bit, but I see you are a fan of Pete Trewavas - have you heard the stuff he did with Transatlantic? Sheer class! Get well soon!
