Touted by Beatport as "One of the artists to watch in 2009" Karl Sav has had music in his blood ever since he was 9 years old when he started to play guitar and soon after bass guitar and drums. Throughout his teenage years he was involved in various bands of different genres ranging from Heavy Metal to Acid jazz including playing bass in Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus cover bands reaking havoc on the local scenes in Canberra and Sydney with his 6 string bass. Armed with a 4 track recorder and an old Alesis drum machine, Karl recorded many of his bands tracks in their entirety. Little did he know that the skills he picked up then would come in handy in future! .. In 1999 Karl moved to Perth to study Business at University and it was here that he fell in love with Electronic Music and in particular Breakbeat and Drum and Bass which makes sense given his love of all things broken-beated from jazz to funk. When he lost his first job as an accountant due to redunacy, he bought a set of decks and a mixer with his pay out. After only 8 months behind the decks, Karl won the Stanton Club Dj competition in February 2004, and since then he has rocked countless dance floors around Perth from Nightclubs, to massive house party’s and even the odd bush doof hundreds of miles away from Civilisation! .. In 6 years he has achieved what takes some a lifetime to accomplish. Karl is currently one of the resident Dj's at the night "Destination?" at the famous Ambar Nightclub in Perth, and at the end of 2006, Karl was voted number 1 in the Perth Dance Music awards for Best New Talent and won the "Best Local Tune" category with his First release on Erase "Hang One Minute". Playing along side some of the biggest names in the industry with support of international names such as Skool of Thought, Krafty Kuts, Breakfastaz, Chris Carter, Future Funk Squad, Kraymon, Friendly, Klaus Hill, Dj Mutiny, Dopamine , Baobinga, ID, Groove Diggerz, Jhz, Antiform, and Phil K under his belt as well as the bi-monthly radio show on international breaks station NSB Radio to keep him busy, Karl continues to raise the bar week in week out with his energetic and funk fuelled sets rocking Perth crowds. .. Karl Sav has performed nationally in clubs all over Australia and just completed a tour of New Zealand in May 2008. .. .. Karl got the music creation bug back into him during 2005 and got back into making music, only this time the electronic type! With almost 20 years experience behind him playing in bands plus a good grasp of music theory and production skills picked up along the way, it took him no time to bang out some quality dance floor fillers for his sets. His first release on Erase Records “Hang One Minute” received massive support from the likes of Elite Force, Meat Katie, Future Funk Squad and Dopamine with the latter describing it as “a deep atomospheric thumper, real 3am stuff”. .. After a stellar year in 2007 with numerous releases, 2008 has started off with a bang with his release of his debut single on Re:connect records. "No Doubt" was given 4 out of 5 stars in Mixmag and features the vocals of local singer, Nikita. .. After hearing some of Karls music, Australian band "Calerway" asked Karl to remix the tune "Imaginary Friend" from their debut album "Midnight Mercernaries" due for release in September 2008. .. Massive UK breakbeat live band "The Wrongstars" have just released their first Album "Beats Rhymes and Conflicts" with Karl's storming remix of "Freakshow" featured on the 2nd CD. ..
