Imagine Peter Murphy singing for At the Drive In playing Jane's Addiction songs. that was the first incarnation.
Then imagine Adam Ant moving like Iggy Pop fronting Missing Persons. That's the second incarnation
KHL RIP 2001-2005
Karmahitlist started in October of 2001, and it officially saw its end in December of 2005. It has been a hell of a run but it was time to let it go. As one of the two members that has been here from the beginning to the end, it was a privilege to play with the talented musicians who lent their souls to the sound we all created together.
Take a listen to the songs. You will immediately hear the difference in not only the styles of the two different line-ups, but the substance. Karmahitlist was never more than the sum of its parts; whether it was the intense brooding mystery when Ty sang lead, or the showy energetic "Look at me NOW" vibe when Sean was singing, no one member was a more dominating force than the others.
If you were fortunate to catch any of the performances over the years, it was a pleasure to entertain you. If you were there just to hate: fuck you. We did what we did and we did it with our artistic credibility at stake with our every step. If you missed it, I hope you can get an inkling of what a blast it was. If you were one of the people that never made it to a single show and always gave excuses why you couldn't: You had your chance and, obviously, didn't give a shit.
This profile might be getting the axe. Until then It'll serve as a thank you note for the fans and friends who thought for even a second that we were worth listening to, and also as a reminder that Karmahitlist wasn't just Sean Starkey or Ty Elam but of the chemistry they both inspired between each of them and the rest of the band.
In my opinion, even though we shared the same name, we were two different bands with their own individual merit. It was an honor to help bring it to you.
