This duo : Nurtured by Wales' intrinsic oral tradition of storytelling, ancient poetry and decadent, passionate rock. Buffered by busking on the summer streets of North America. Now present in London a new core of energy.
KARMA JUNKIE- Peter, John and Bjork kinda stuff... electro pop atmospherics and sugar sweet melodic pop sensibilities.. Hot Chip would certainly be a touchstone... then again the more experimental corners of Radiohead are very apparent here…these tunes are very smart... some bloody nice violin arrangements come into play...

Instantly captivating but enduringly appealing, the music of Karma Junkie is strikingly original. This Welsh band – for ‘duo’ seems too constrained a term to embody the exuberant fullness of their sound – manage in just four tracks to deliver a remarkable range of moods and styles, combining the punch of Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes) with the lyricism of Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci (although Karma Junkie’s violin-work is far superior to Gorky’s), and treating the listener to a sweepingly mellifluous and inventive conversation between voice, violin and guitar. They can be spare and restrained, with a light touch of glockenspiel, before plunging into a powerfully driven belter such as ‘Ho Chi Minh City’ – which establishes an irresistible memorability on the very first hearing. Their playing exudes an apparent effortless control, yet it has a beguiling fluidity. No whining, self-absorbed miserablism here but intelligent, witty, politically alert lyrics. Wonderfully unpredictable arrangements and the highest production standards.
