Karmakonga doet het al jaren goed in het live circuit. Eerder mochten ze al het grootste en meest gezellige reggaefestival van Europa, Reggae Sundance, openen, stonden ze in het voorprogramma van Beef en in 2006
wonnen ze vele popprijzen en stonden zij in de finale van de Grote Prijs van Nederland. De band valt op door de geluidseffecten die live op het podium gemixed worden. Een groovende bas, vette drums en de meeslepende show van de charismatische zangeres, weet het publiek te vangen. Het publiek vergelijkt het geluid van Karmakonga met dat van: Beef!, Moloko, Lily Allen en Dry & Heavy. Na het succesvolle 2006 werd het tijd voor Karmakonga om zichzelf weer zonder jury op waarde te schatten en de studio in te gaan om een vette plaat op te nemen. Want de muziek van Karmakonga moet overal gehoord kunnen worden. Na een aantal demo/eigen beheer produkties wilde de band met een producer in zee gaan. Om afstand te kunnen nemen van het productieproces. Om zo een gedurfder resultaat te krijgen. Ro Krom (oa Gotcha!, OlaBola, Ro & de Paradise Funk), die de band al lange tijd volgt, raadt de band aan contact te zoeken met Marc Baronner (bassist Kraak en Smaak). Baronner produceert, mixt en remixt samen met Manu Genius onder de naam ‘Not Easy At All Productions’. In a reggae/dub fashion: Geheel in de stijl van Karmakonga. M&M zochten een band om een compleet album te kunnen produceren, dus Karmakonga kwam op het juiste moment. Het album, Like We Like!, is op verschillende locaties opgenomen: oa in de thuisstudio van bassist Joeri Lans, die samen met Maaike Lans het merendeel van de muziek heeft geschreven. In de IJland-studio en natuurlijk in de ‘Not Easy At All Dub Shelter’ waar het album gemixt is. Op het album doen meerdere gast muzikanten mee en het is Ro Krom die op het nummer Lily White in zijn funky stijl de backing vocal voor zijn rekening neemt. En dat de wereld alsmaar kleiner wordt bewijst het feit dat Jamaicaan Oba Simba vanuit zijn studio in Kingston zijn partij van het duet met zangeres Maaike heeft opgenomen! De plaat funkt van trage original reggae, via uptempo road reggae naar Ska en dance. Het album “Like We Like” wordt gedistribueerd door Munich Records. Nu officieel een nieuwe aanwinst voor de nederlandse reggae!
