PHASE 1:
Claire und Bjoern trafen 2003 das erste Mal aufeinander und begannen, eine Band zu planen, mit der sie beweisen wollen, daß cooler, leicht schräger Indiepop und eine kompromisslose DIY-Haltung mit dem Wunsch kombinierbar sind, astreine POP-Musik zu machen, die unelitär und für jeden zugänglich ist. Sie gründeten Karpatenhund zusammen mit Stefanie, Niklas und Mauri, die alle zusammen mit Björn in der Noisefolkband Locas In Love spielten und probten im Dezember 2004 zum ersten Mal. Erstes Konzert im März 2005. Von da an viel live spielen und mit sog. wichtigen Leuten aus dem sog. Musikbusiness reden.
PHASE 2:
Nach einem etwas zähen Start ging das Wettbieten um die Band im Frühjahr 2006 los, es folgten jede Menge schwierige Entscheidungen und Standortbestimmungen bis Karpatenhund sich im Sommer 2006 letztendlich für Virgin als Plattenfirma entschieden. Die Aufnahmen zum ersten Album begannen zusammen mit dem Produzentenfreund Wolfgang Stach im Oktober 2006 im Studio Black Box in Frankreich und wurden Ende November in Köln abgeschlossen, den kompletten Dezember wurde das Album zusammen mit Peter Katis in den USA abgemischt. In dieser Zeit erschien auch die erste EP (1) von KHund.
PHASE 3:
Die erste Single (2) und das erste Album (3) erschienen und stiegen in die Charts ein. 2007 wurde komplett damit zugebracht, das Album zu promoten und betouren, bei weit über 100 Konzerten eine anstrengende und herrliche Erfahrung. Die Plattenfirma wurde unterdessen von einer Investorengruppe übernommen, was die Promotion der nächsten Single (4) unmöglich machte - obwohl es eine tolle Single ist, inklusive eines Remixes des von der Band geliebten Andreas Dorau. Am Ende des Jahres waren KHund erschöpft und wollten lieber wieder neues Material schreiben statt immer weiter auf Tour zu gehen und Promotion fürs Album zu machen.
PHASE 4:
Die erste Hälfte des Jahres 2008 wurden nur wenige Konzerte gespielt, weil die Band mit dem Schreiben und Einüben der Stücke für ein neues Album beschäftigt war. Im Frühjahr wurde die dritte und letzte Single (5) aus dem Debutalbum ausgekoppelt und schaffte es erneut in die Charts. Gründungsmitglied Maurizio verließ die Band im Guten, um sich nicht-musikalischen Belangen zuzuwenden, als neue Schlagzeugerin stieß Saskia v. Klitzing von den Fehlfarben dazu. KHund entwickelten Songwriting und Sound radikal weiter und gingen im Juni 2008 erneut ins Studio Black Box in Frankreich, um die Arbeiten am zweiten selbstproduzierten Album mit der Hilfe von Peter Deimel zu beginnen. Im Herbst wurden - erneut mit Peter Katis in Bridgeport - gemixt.
PHASE 5:
Die Plattenfirma hatte plötzlich aufgehört zu existieren und während Karpatenhund beim neuen Label BMG andockte, wurde das eigentlich fertige Album noch wie im Fieberwahn erweitert und verändert. Tony Doogan mixte in Glasgow zusätzliche Songs und eine Albumveröffentlichung für den Sommer wurde vorbereitet. Währenddessen kam Jennifer Jasmin Keßler zur Band, um für Niklas einzuspringen, der aus gesundheitlichen Gründen pausieren mußte. Die EP Wald / MONDO CANE (6) erschien zusammen mit einem Video zu Wald, das Hagen Decker nachts im, nunja, Wald gedreht hat, kurz vorm Album DER NAME DIESER BAND IST KARPATENHUND (7), das Ende August 2009 veröffentlicht wurde.

PHASE 1:
Claire and Bjoern meet in 2003 and started planning a band that proves the possibility of cool indie music and DIY-attitude coupled with ambitions of creating pop music that's accessible for everybody. They teamed up with Stef, Niklas and Mauri - all musicians in the noise folk band Locas In Love with Bjoern - and started writing & rehearsing their songs in December 2004. First show March 2005. Lots of playing live and talking to music biz big shots from then on.
PHASE 2:
Music biz bidding war started spring 2006, lots of tough decisions, finally Karpatenhund decided on Virgin Music as a record label in summer 2006 and started recording their first album in October in France and Cologne together with friend and producer Wolfgang Stach all throughout the end of November and mixed it in the USA all December with Peter Katis. Meanwhile, a first EP (1) was released.
PHASE 3:
First single (2) and album (3) were released and enter the charts. All of 2007 was spent touring and promoting the shit out of the first album, a painful and rewarding experience. The record company got snatched by a group of investors which made promoting the next single (4) impossible, although it's a great single including a fantastic remix by the band's beloved Andreas Dorau. At the end of the year, K-dog was exhausted and rather wanted to write material than do more and more tours and promotion.
PHASE 4:
The first half of 2008 didn't see much touring since the band was busy writing and recording new material. In the meantime, the third and last single from the debut album (5) was released to some acclaim and just made it into the charts. Founding member Maurizio left the band on good terms to pursue non-musical projects and a new drummer joined the team: Saskia v. Klitzing of Fehlfarben. K-Dog developed their approach to playing and writing radically and finally went into the studio Black Box in France once again in June 2008 to start recording what is to become their self-produced second album with the help of producer Peter Deimel.
PHASE 5:
Their record company had suddenly ceased to exist and while Karpatenhund signed a deal with BMG, they feverishly expanded and changed the finished album. Tony Doogan mixed additional songs in Glasgow and a release was finally scheduled for summer. In the meantime, Jennifer Jasmin Keßler joined the band to help out as Niklas hat to take a break due to health reasons. The EP Wald / MONDO CANE (6) was released and accompanied by a video for the track 'Wald' (Forest), directed by Hagen Decker and followed by DER NAME DIESER BAND IST KARPATENHUND (7), that finally saw the light of day in August 2009 (The name of this band is KRPTNHND).
