"I saw smoke first. I don't know what happened. (After being told the No. 83 had a tire issue) So that explains the smoke and that would explain the wreck. It's just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I tried to stay as far left as I could; I think (Clint) Bowyer might have been underneath me a little, so I was just trying to creep down there. Then I got hit in the back and turned me back into the field. We had a pretty good Budweiser Dodge, right in the mix all day. I think the racing was exciting, a normal Talladega. We just ended up in the big wreck."

Quotes for Lowe's:
•You have had so much success at LMS. What is it about this racetrack that you think suits your driving style the best?
“It's a track where I seem to know what the car needs to go fast. The line that you need to run here is so crucial. Lowe’s Motor Speedway is such a sensitive track, you can really mess up here by missing your line by just a little bit or not slowing down quite enough getting to the white line throughout the race. It’s a great track and hopefully we can continue to keep up the success here and get a win in the Bank of America 500.”
•You have a chance to become the first driver to sweep all three events at LMS in a single season.
“Lowe's is definitely one of my favorite tracks and we have a unique opportunity to win all three races here this year. We’ve won all the races here - we are just trying to get it done in one year. It would be a huge accomplishment for me personally and everyone at Gillett Evernham Motorsports to be able to complete the sweep.”
•What are your goals from here to end of the season?
“The focus doesn’t change that much from what we have already been doing this season. We are still learning about the COT and learning about the tires and how to make them work the right way at each track. It takes time, but we’ve come a long ways since this time last year and I feel like we still have a ways to go, but we are still progressing forward and that is the main goal. When we show up at the track from the time we unload we have improved from where we were last year. Our speed isn’t that far off from where we need to be.”

Mini Biography
Kasey Kahne was born in Enumclaw, Washington on April 10, 1980. Kasey became interested in racing at a young age. His father, Kelly Kahne, owned several sprint cars. Kasey loved spending time at local dirt tracks. When he was 18, Kasey began racing full-size sprint cars. In 2002, Kasey signed with Robert Yates racing, and ran in the NASCAR Busch Series. He best finish that year was 10th, at Michigan International Speedway. He got his first Busch Series win in 2003, at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In that same year, Kasey was chosen to replace Bill Elliott and drive for the No. 9 Dodge for Ray Evernham and Evernham Motorsports. He was excited about this opprotunity and accepted the role of a full-time driver. In 2004, he was named as NASCAR's Rookie Of The Year. He was driving for both the Busch Series and the Nextel Cup Series. He captured his first Nextel Cup win on May 14, 2005 at Richmond International Speedway. His career has been moving up hill since then. To date, Kasey has had 40 Top-10 finishes, 29 Top-5 finishes, and 7 wins. 5 of those wins have been in the 2006 season, leading all the Nextel Cup Drivers this season so far. On May 28, 2006 Kasey captured the Coca-Cola 600, his third win of the season. Kasey had stopped Jimmie Johnson's 3 season streak at that track. Kasey has become one of Nextel Cups hottest young drivers. Kasey's NASCAR career is running smoothly, and he's loving every minute of it, especially since he has his family around him...on and off track.
