KASF was established in 1967 to provide a musical alternative for the students and faculty at ASC. We serve as a training ground for future broadcasters, managers and engineers. KASF is dedicated to maintaining the tradition of quality radio broadcasting through public service. KASF serves a diverse audience; we try to provide equally diverse programming while serving the musical preferences of the campus and the community. We try to give each individual deejay a great deal of autonomy over how he/she chooses to format their show. This is done with the intent of providing music that is as varied as our staff and listening audience. Our hope is that this station will serve as a sounding board for new music, new ideas as well as all ASC related news and events. Our staff will always be pushing the boundaries of the musical horizon rather than simply repeating what is heard on standard commercial stations. KASF is a place where students can explore their own abilities and interests and where those abilities and interests can be nurtured in a supportive environment. KASF management will provide constant challenges to our staff to help them learn through experience. The Federal Communication Commission establishes all rules and regulations with which KASF must comply by law. Every effort will be made by KASF staff to avoid slanderous statements, errors of fact, one-sidedness, and mere rumor. KASF is responsible for reporting to the Communications Board of ASC for policy and partial funding.
