Katassamalass est l'ex-groupe undertakers créé par "dédé", batteur/chanteur du groupe. "Undertakers" était au départ un groupe de trash, anthony à la guitare et pogo à la basse. Le trio enregistre sa première démo: "the forces of the night", après de nombreux concerts. Ensuite, "dédé "(André Breton), ex-guitariste de "massacra noise")décide de céder sa place de chanteur à Jean-Yves, le groupe se voit attitré une voix death metal. A la recherche d'un second guitariste, gabriel vient rejoindre le groupe. Le groupe vire doucement aux death metal avec des influences black metal, en plus des influences thrash déjà présente, gabriel fait les choeurs. Le groupe change de nom et devient katassamalass. Le départ de dédé et l'arrivée d'olivier, le nouveau batteur vait virer le groupe aux brutal death metal avec influences grind core, black metal et autres influences.Mécontent de la non évolution du chant de Jean-Yves, gabriel et anthony décident de reprendre le chant. Le groupe sort sa première démo en tant que katassamalass: extreme brutality, comprenant 5 titres. Les concerts se multiplient: frontline, culture rock, magasin 4, festivals grindcore, ... Le groupe décide alors de retourner en studio et enregistre cette fois un mini-album, en compagnie du groupe svartkris qui sera signé sous le label painkiller. Peu de temps après le groupe splitte et en 2006, gabriel décide de reprendre toutes ses compos ainsi que quelques riffs de dédé pour enregistrer le véritable premier album de katassamalass. Il enregistre les guitares, la basse, toutes les parties chant et programme la batterie. Les compos sont améliorées mais restant à la mémoire de katassamalass lorsqu'il s'agissait d'un groupe, désormais il s'agit d'un projet solo qui continue, uniquement en studio.
