Televizyon
ick. I RARELY watch TV, but if you ever catch me in front of a set, I'll be watching something on PBS, the Chapelle Show, maybe South Park or the Simpsons, some of the Adult Swim comics on Cartoon Network, Whose Line is it Anyway?, various Britcoms (fawlty towers is a fave). I don't think I've intentionally watched "prime time" TV in months.
Kitaplar
The Art of War (the 1910 Lionel Giles trans), The Song of the Young Sentry, LoTR, Catch 22, the Red Badge of Courage, King Rat, The Tao of Pooh, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Neuromancer (or anything by William Gibson), The Odyessy, A Confederacy of Dunces, any Dr. Seuss book (hey, they are FUN! get over it), the Illuminati Trilogy. Vonnegut [ RIP :-( ] is cool: Slaughterhouse-Five, Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions. I was really into Civil War books when I was a kid; that passed by college. In college it was almost exclusively fantasy and sci-fi stuff. I've spread out reading-wise since then.
Strangely enough, I've gotten into Time magazine recently ... mass market watered down pre-packaged consumer news. Its good for reading 5 minutes at a time while "otherwise engaged". There is an analogy in there somewhere, but I ain't reaching for it!

Einstein, for saying "Education is what remains when one has forgotten everything he learned in school.
The founding fathers, for writing "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Zapata, for choosing to die standing rather than live on his knees.
Gandhi, for telling us "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
Bob Dylan and Paul Westerberg, for writing songs that make me think.

If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.
That strain again! it had a dying fall:
O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound,
That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour! Enough; no more:
'Tis not so sweet now as it was before.
William Shakespeare, "Twelfth Night, or What You Will", Act I, Scene I.
