Interests

  • General

My website - Beatle-fans.com Interests: Beatles, Music, art, Objectivism, silliness, the flying spaghetti monster, ukuleles, photography, Beatles, reading, museums, political incorrectness, travel, Beatles, cooking/food, the internet, my websites, capitalism, learning more about autism and Aspergers and just being a mum... oh and Beatles, too!

  • Music

The Beatles, Wings, Plastic Ono Band, Traveling Wilburys, Janis Joplin, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, The Pretenders, Tears for Fears, The Ramones, Elvis Costello, U2, CSNY, The Who, The Kinks, The Zombies, Buddy Holly, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Queen, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Springstein, The Doors and all kinds of mostly older stuff. I just love all those wonderful Beatles tribute bands rocking the world and keeping the music alive... Liverpool, American English, Instant Karma, The Cavern Beat, Liverpool Legends, Rain (going to see them in March woohoo!) and so many more ... I love classic rock and oldies from the 60s through 80s mostly... Did I mention The Beatles????

I've also discovered the joy of ukulele through my love of the Beatles. I have been greatly enjoying watching the youtube videos many of my friends have been posting as bulletins and sending my way. Keep 'em coming! Thanks! You keep me rockin' everyday!

  • Movies

Beatle movies - Yellow Submarine, A Hard Days Night, Help, Let it Be, and Magical Mystery Tour. Comedies and anything with Monty Python or Mel Brooks, A Fish Called Wanda, Rock and Roll High School, Spinal Tap, Wag the Dog, Contact, Wizard of Oz, Airplane, The Matrix, The Rutles and quirky movies such as Rocky Horror, Being John Malkovich, and goofy Ringo movies like Magic Christian and Caveman (see www.squidoo.com/go-ringo), more recent fave... The Dark Knight. I have mixed feelings on Across the Universe. Overall a thumbs down. Jim Sturgess is an absolute doll and was great. Dana Fuchs was awesome. Lucy was so-so and did nothing for me. The movie had some great moments such as Bono and Joe Cocker, but it would have been so much better without the Sadie character. It seemed like they threw her in there to be politically correct and have a token homosexual and Asian. I was just like "Oh puleeze!"
  • Television

Does youtube count??? I'm not a big TV watcher but I like cartoons like The Simpsons, Family Guy or Futurama and older series like I Love Lucy, X-Files and Six Feet Under and sometimes I'll catch Law and Order and CSI or the news.
  • Books

Harry Potter books, all kinds of books about Beatles, Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, my favorite author/philosopher. If you are into both Objectivism and the Beatles, please let me know. I also mostly read non-fiction books about things I want to learn more about, such as autism. I am currently reading Temple Grandin's The Way I see It, which is a fascinating book by a scientist with Autism.
  • Heroes

    Photobucket

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Ayn Rand, Barbara and Nathaniel Branden, David Kelley, Ron Paul, Penn & Teller, Edward Tufte, Rick Rescorla, Temple Grandin, my family, scientists and entrepreneurs, the founding fathers, and all the heroes who fight on behalf of our wonderful nation. Let's bring them home quickly and victorious.

About me:

beatle-fans.com

Hi, I'm Kat from Beatle-fans.com just a regular gal from Chicago looking to connect with others. I'm a Beatle freak (I met Paul and Ringo). I'm a single mother of two amazing teenagers. My oldest is about to go into college to study medical illustration (or become a doctor) and my youngest, who has PDD/Aspergers (high-functioning autism), has recently started high school. He wants to become a video game tester or a Jedi when he grows up. Well, I hope he changes his mind to something a bit more practical. I guess he's still young and idealistic so I'm not going to bust his bubble yet.

Me? I'm a Beatlefreak and have been since I was a high school kid and the second wave of Beatlemania hit America. Paul has also been my fave, but I love all of them. Other than that, well, I am a politically moderate "small L" libertarian (I'm not an anarchist, just think govt is too huge and incompetent). I'm a renegade Objectivist, INTP (introvert/rational) personality, and I have a rather quirky and silly sense of humor if you can get me out of my shell. I'm rather shy and softspoken, yet opinionated and very much an individualist. As long as people work towards their own self-interest with honesty and integrity without resorting to force or fraud, things should run smoothly and everyone should prosper and be happy. I wish people were truly as tolerant as they claim to be. It disturbs me to see so much hate in this world from both the left and right.

Anyhoo....I am always looking for fresh content for my website, Beatle-fans.com which I created after returning from my trip to England last summer. This is my way of paying tribute to the Beatles. I want to expand the site and add more contributions from other fans. I am looking especially for articles and reviews, artwork, book excerpts, and band profiles. If you are in a band, please send me a blurb along with links to your sites including myspace, flickr, squidoo, youtube, etc. and I will help you promote your band. So far, I have made pages for Instant Karma and The Cavern Beat. http://www-beatle-fans.com/instantkarma.php If you would like to send artwork, articles, reviews, announcements or other materials to be published on drop me an email at kat@beatle-fans.com and you could be featured on Beatle-fans.com a place by Beatle-fans for Beatle-fans.

I also sell Beatles merchandise such as t-shirts, posters, and collectibles (and the Monopoly game) to support the site and try to make a little extra money. I also have Ringo Tour items for sale as well as officially licensed Beatle items. If you see me at Beatlefest Chicago or other Beatles happenings, stop and say hi. I am looking for some new friends. I will be attending Abbey Road on the River this year for the very first time, and I hope to meet many of you there. Let me know if you are going. I will also post Chicago Beatles happenings on my calendar so keep me in the loop. Peace & Love, Kat

The Raffle

I am participating in the Autism Speaks walk on May 16, 2009 in Chicago. Every $5 donation to my Walk now for Autism page can be entered into the drawing to win a pair of Chicago Bears tickets. If you are not in Chicago or would prefer a chance to win a Beatles Red Nose Day t-shirt like Paul had on the Grammys, let me know. I have M, L and XL shirts. I have donated these prizes myself because this cause means a lot to me. Chances of winning are excellent because the Bears raffle is only for my tiny little team and the Beatle shirt thing is only by invitation from me for a donation to my personal page. The shirts were only available for a couple of months in the UK and they were very hard to get. I had to have a friend from the UK send them to me. Also, The raffle is only open to people in the US and Canada. Here is the link to my Walk Now for Autism page. Thanks so much for your support and good luck,..

Groovy Beatles Spring

Have a groovy springtime.

Who I'd like to meet:

beatles gear new year
Myspace Glitter Graphics

The Beatles (I've actually met Paul & Ringo (see me in the Donahue video and my Ringo birthday pics) I'd love to meet them again and again) I'd like to also meet other cool people who love the Beatles... as well as Penn and Teller, Yoko Ono, David Bowie, Monty Python, Robin Williams, Ted Nugent, and connect with Beatle-fans, parents of autistic or Aspergers kids and people who play ukulele. Most of all, I'd like to make some new friends and find others kinda like me. I like down to earth groovy (or geeky) people who are genuine, intelligent and fun. I'm pretty quiet most of the time, but I can be pretty goofy once I get going. I would really enjoy meeting new friends in Chicagoland to check out Beatle events or just hang out. I am tired of going to Beatle stuff by myself.
