An acoustic trio, Kate and Edith are proudly rooted in the folk traditions of Appalachian mountain ballads, classic blues and bluegrass; performing rousing original and traditional tunes that combine the spirited atmospheres, longing melodies, driving rhythms and layered harmonies that are so deeply embedded in the roots of these traditions. Weaving a soulful synergy on stage, their captivating vocal and instrumental arrangements culminate in a sound that is at once reminiscent and distinct.
One day in February 2006, Julia, Joe and Lindsay played together for the first time in a little hotel room in Austin, Texas. Charlie (the host of their guerilla showcase room) got extremely excited, said he had never heard anything like it, recorded them on his little tape player and told them "He smelled money!" Julia, Joe and Lindsay, sensing a union that was sure to reap great music and merriment, formed Kate and Edith and haven't heard from Charlie since that fateful night. and that's ok.
These songs were recorded live at Kelso Hall, a desanctified church in Elgin, QC on June 23rd 2006.
Kate and Edith are hoping to record a studio album in the winter.
Hey Kate&Edith, tell Julia "Thanks for the addvice" and that "Ryan is on his way, driving to Whitehorse." I'm sure "Live from Kelso Hall" will be one of the many sound tracks we'll have playing on this road trip.

Please forgive this small mass-message-type comment, but we just want to tell everyone about our latest project: "DIG YOUR ROOTS - CREATIVE JAZZ". Independent artists, CDs, live concerts aired on radio stations . . . it's all quite exciting for us. Come on over to our page to check out all the details.
We'll be back here soon to see what's up with you these days. Feel free to drop us a comment in the meantime.
It certainly was an enjoyable night. You guys sounded smooth like chocolate Haagen Daas. Lets do this again shortly for sure. I have CD's for you too. And this time we have to be more on top of this last call business. And I will have a pre jam nap (no no, not a Pearl Jam nap).
Have fun in Wakefield!
Love Dara
P.S. thanks for the layout tips. I feel like our band image is really starting to come together now! I also feel like a computer genius.
