Warm summer evenings in Sydney when it's too hot to sleep love Cold winter afternoons in Vancouver when it's too grey outside to leave the house friends Sitting at Honolulu Airport at 3am people watching life Busking on the streets in Montreal heartbreak Looking up at the stars listening to Bjork play live in the desert isolation Waking up on a couch in a strangers house in San Francisco redwine Crying into a telephone at 4am to the other side of the world family The first dive into the Ocean memories Dancing all night in a warehouse questioning Walking barefoot confusion Cigarettes on the balcony light Late night conversations touch Charming strangers

Sydney born indie folk artist, Kate Duffy began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 18, and what simply began as a favourite hobby grew into something more, as she hosted playing small gigs to her friends at the UNSW Roundhouse and local pubs in Newtown and Surry Hills. In July of 2006 Kate ventured overseas and with her guitar in tow, hit up Open Mic Nights in New York City, San Francisco, Montreal and Vancouver. With lyrical content ranging from Cups of Tea to Free Wine and combined with a soft soulful voice, Kate grasped the attention of audiences with a unique sound.
Finding a home in Vancouver, Kate settled into the indie music scene performing regularly at local venues and began recording her debut album ‘Precious Spaces’ at The Hive studios, where she was joined by Vancouver based, indie pop band Bella on the recording.
2007 saw Kate playing at Ladyfest Vancouver, a duo album release party alongside Vancouver’s The Wintermitts and a welcome back home show at the Hopetoun in Sydney.
Kate released 'Precious Spaces' on her own independent label 338 Records, and has been played on Vancouver's local radio CITR.
In 2008 Kate has played along side some great Australian artists including: Clare Bowditch , Dead Letter Chorus and Jamie Hutchings
... and has also found a partner in musical crime by the name of Maeve Marsden who has been singing up a storm with Kate at her Sydney shows.
Kate enjoys candle lit dinners, long walks on the beach and talking in the third person and hopes to one day master the art of sewing so that she can mend her favourite ripped jeans without her mums assistance. Stay tuned for updates... and come to a show you won't be disappointed!
