Kate Eden is a British Jazz Singer and Actress living in London.
Compelled to swing, Kate’s repertoire favours the style of days gone by. Favourites from Blossom Dearie, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan and of course Ella, Frank and Sammy Davis Junior all feature in sets complimented by an abundance of character and style.
With a unique tone and delivery full of character Kate’s shows promise to take you to a happy place.
After a fascination with Jazz from an early age (Kate wrote to Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, aged 14, requesting some flyers to stick in a school English Project. The man himself received the letter and called for a chat about jazz! It certainly left an impression), Kate begun to sing jazz on her home island of Jersey accompanied by local musicians, the Black Butter Jazz Band where she was booked regularly for corporate and private functions and sang as resident jazz vocalist to often full houses at the Blue Note Bar for over a year.
Since returning to London, Kate has introduced herself to the UK Jazz scene playing venues such as The Bull’s Head, Barnes, Radisson Hotels and The De La Warr Pavilion opposite and being inspired by some of the UK’s leading musicians including Mike Hatchard, Herbie Flowers, BBC Jazz Award winner, Alan Barnes and regularly with fine modern jazz pianist Alex Hutton and Simon Little (The Divine Comedy, Clare Teal) on Double Bass.
Kate recently recorded a 5 song EP together with Alex and Simon and drummer Josh Morrison.
Kate trained at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London and as Actress has performed in many theatre and film productions including lead actress in feature film Love Struck, Best Film winner at London’s Portobello Film Festival and screened at New York’s Film & Video Festival, a one woman show of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads (Bed Among the Lentils and Her Big Chance), The Complete Work of William Shakespeare for Broads with Swords and Dance Fest at the Royal Festival Hall with London Theatre of Ballroom.
"The Kate Eden Jazz Ensemble played at our Summer Party this year. They were absolutely superb. With both a modern and traditional feel Kate truly has a great voice, accompanied by the smooth sounds of her band. I was most impressed and would highly recommend that you make your party truly unforgettable too."
Dennis Lavin, Managing Director - Vistra Trust & Corporate Services
