I am a writer, singer of original and traditional music, actor, teacher, guitarist and hammered dulcimer player. Four solo albums so far, in order from youngest and most idealistic to older and still idealistic: "First Warm Wind" "Second Nature" and "Outside Eden," all on Waterbug Records, and "The Only Word," on Redwing. Also the duet album "Drawn From the Well" with my sometime duo partner, the wonderful Kate MacLeod. Making plans for future projects now.
I've worked with a lot of great people over the years, singing, and playing live and on recordings with David Bromberg, Bohola, the David Munnelly Band, Niamh Parsons, Jim Tullio, Tom Dundee, Dennis Cahill, Michael Smith, Andrew Calhoun, and many others.
It's a great life.
I was born when my parents were working on the "Gumby" show, probably sealing my fate as a performer, and certainly making green the central color of my wardrobe. My mother was Gumby's first voice, my father was the first art director and invented Pokey.
I've toured in Europe with Kate, in Australia with Bohola, in Ireland, England, and Scotland with Andrew Calhoun, and in the U.S. with lots of people.
Recently I heard the group "Magpie" performing one of my songs.
As I said before... it's a great life. I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
I changed the lyric for "Ain't it so nice outside today" , the catchy new tune about seeking disablity benefits. It's on my blog. All feedback appreciated...thanks...rk
Hey Kat, just saw your pictures in the Victory Music online mag. I'm really looking forward to seeing your show in September! BTW, I've been performing Louisiana Storm and Mary Ellen Carter recently. Thanks for introducing me to both songs!

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Hey Kat! You were SO WONDERFUL at the gig Saturday night! Such a joy to have you around! We just can't tell you how much we've missed you. xoxoxoxoxo W&F
Hi Kat - Read your blog about Lindisfarne...a place of exquisite beauty. A similar spot for me near Hexham, Northumberland in the UK. Hope you enjoy the image and the sounds of Celtic strings playin'! - Dennis
I'll be in Evanston/Wilmette for LilFest (myspace. com/lilfest) in a couple of weeks. I start the whole thing off with a show at Bills Blues on 9/11. Chicago's Michi will be my violin. Hope to see you there.
