I run half-marathons to raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer!
On June 14, 2006, my beautiful mom was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. Nine months after her diagnosis she passed away as a result of the terrible disease. Over 30,000 people are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer each year, and close to the same number of people pass away from the disease each year. Even though it is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in America today, it remains on of the least funded.
I've completed two half marathons thus far, in October 2006 and January 2007, and will continue to pound the pavement to raise awareness.
