I started writing this in the third person but it just made me feel funny. Hi, I'm Katelyn Berreth. I have been in love with music since I can remember. Singing came naturally - it's just something I've always done. I wrote my first song in second grade and by fifth grade I was writing them regularly. In high school I had the priviledge of working with a wonderful and experienced songwriter for a couple of years. His name is Kurt Liebert. It was a very unique situation because it was kind of like private instruction but instead of learning to play an instrument I was learning to craft a song. We worked as co-writers but I was learning so much so fast that I consider him my favorite teacher. We ended up recording a project called "Chasing the Things That Fall EP." After high school I attended Berklee College of Music for two years. In between those two years, in the summer of 2007, I recorded a full-length album entitled "Sunrise Goodbyes." I called upon a few musicians I had worked with in the past. Kurt brought Joseph Childres onto the "Chasing the Things That Fall EP" as a drummer but Joseph really ended up producing the thing. I loved his work so I called him up to see if he would be interested in producing what is really my first album as an individual artist. He was! Joseph is the ideal producer - an incredible musician, intuitive artist, genuinely caring person and as if that's not enough he will rock you with his creativity. While we were still in the brainstorming process of how to pull off a full-length album with limited resources I received a phone call from Justin Armstrong, who had been the engineer on the EP. He asked if he could work on "Sunrise Goodbyes." This was a comical question really because I mean... of course! I was ecstatic because I had figured that it would be a hopeless request on my part since he had been living in LA and Las Vegas. He said that he heard I was doing an album and he had wanted to move to Seattle for the summer but didn't want to work on music that sucked. A very high compliment I feel. He was absolutely essential to the project. We were actually able to record almost the whole record at my family's cabin in Snohomish because of Justin being a bad ass engineer. He also co-produced the record. Other than that I called upon two musicians I played with frequently before I left for Berklee. My absolute favorite piano player who brings the tastiest, jazziest piano sounds to the songs, Carly Greyell, and Martin Celt, who writes bass lines beyond my wildest dreams that are solid but still so melodic. Joseph also brought on a one man band named Garrett Lunceford who played all the guitar, drums and a lot of the percussion on the album. Garrett brought so much to the music and to the experience, being one of the funniest people I have ever met. We had a wonderful time creating "Sunrise Goodbyes" (as you can see in the photo album I've posted) and now it's finally come time to release it. This is probably where the real biography begins. it's kind of amazing. I discovered you in 4th of july concert, in seattle. I was making my way downtown,just to see what was around. and then I heard the Voice, Your voice. I stayed here mouth wide opened for 10 minutes or so, and I immediatly bought sunrise goodbyes. Anyway I want you to know that It's allways with me and I already listened to it in morocco, spain, and France. Keep hope, and good work up. Reda
