My "influences" come from life itself and every day happenings. I am influenced by emotions/ by raw anger and blissful happiness/ by words [both written and spoken]/ by film and photograph/ by uncensored, naked thought/by beautiful heart to hearts... by those who I interact with on a day to day basis/ by strangers I see while walking on the cold concrete/ by love/ by community/ by nature/ by a pure and raw melody/ by artists that strive for something more/ by humanity/the human condition/by struggle and all that it teaches/ by truth and the process of seeking it/ and finally by an unbelievable and continually growing relationship with a loving Father God.
Some Artists I listen to frequently and derive inspiration from are:
Sigur Ros, Broken Social Scene, Feist, The Acorn, Bon Iver, The Beatles, Cat Power, Damien Rice, Sufjan Stevens, Dashboard Confessional, Andrew Bird, Emily Haines, Jeniferever, Anathallo, K'naan, Chad VanGaalen, Copeland, Julie Doiron, Iron and Wine, Tegan and Sara, Sarah Mclachlan, Dallas Green, Jimmy Eat World, Great Lake Swimmers, Patrick Watson, Arcade Fire, Postal Service, Explosions In The Sky, Death Cab For Cutie, Miles Davis, Boards of Canada, Beethoven, New Buffalo, The Swell Season and much more.
I write these songs because I am compelled to do so. Something deep inside of me needs this release, this beautiful escape in which music seems to offer me so perfectly. For a moment I am beholden. For a time, I am consumed.
Inspiration is all around me; often times the most painful experience produces the most meaningful art. This is art. This is subjective. Take from it what you will and leave behind what fails to move you. Know though that all of this comes straight from my heart. As much as this is my release, I want it to be yours too. As much as it is my escape, I want it to be yours as well. How beautiful it is when we discover we are not in this alone! This life is full of mutual experiences… we just tend to perceive our experiences as individual and exclusive. Music can offer that sense of community that seems to be so lacking today, that chance to understand and to feel understood...even if only for a short moment. In the end, I just want connection through raw uncensored expression. In the end I just want to move and be moved.
Let this be the catalyst, let this be the long awaited moment of catharsis…let it be whatever it is you need it to be most.

The show is around seven, I am pretty stoked about it. It should be good. Its an amazing line up, some good friends are playing that night, you really really should try and come out, and we should go for coffee to if you're not busy. What are you in town for?
Excellent! We're starting up towards the end of the month, so anytime after that. (Nick and I (Brandon) are cool with doing a more acoustic set as well).
