Kate is a singer/songwriter hailing from Baltimore. Originally a classical flute player and self-professed band nerd, she began to direct her musical energies to singing and the guitar upon coming to Davidson in 2001. Her love of folk music and flute playing were happily combined during a three month stint in Ireland, where she took up traditional Irish flute playing. In December 2005, Kate performed in New England and Davidson with the Celtic band The Beggar Boys, singing lead vocals and playing guitar and wooden flute. Their music has been featured on 89.9 FM WDAV's program The Main Street Sessions. Kate appeared with the Beggar Boys again in Boston and Davidson in December 2006. Recently, she was voted Reader's Pick for Charlotte's Best Female Vocalist 2006 in Creative Loafing magazine.
Kate's first record, Right Now, features 10 original songs and was independently released in September 2006. CD's are available at www.cdbaby.com/kateminogue.
