TheKateFans on myspace is a personal dedication site for myself and others like-minded to discuss Kate Moennig and her work. Check back often as I will be updating the picture galleries, blogs and information about her projects as they are released. Please note that Kate does not do frequent interviews or public statements therefore many issues are often "speculated" about on the internet. Be advised that some blog discussions are in regards to pieces of information speculated about on the internet.

I have met Kate ONCE in near ten years of following her trades work. I don't know her personally. I can't get in contact with her. I live 3000 miles away from Los Angeles so all I do is pass on info, keep things up to date, follow the work and talk to nice people who also enjoy Moennig's tradeswork. Other than that I am just like YOU, a fan- nothing more.

Kate grew up in Philadelphia with her father (William Moennig), a violin maker, and her mother (Mary Zahn Moennig), a Broadway dancer. Kate has two half siblings from her father's first marriage. Kate's aunt is Blythe Danner (Her father's half sister). She is first cousins with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jake Paltrow and Hillary Danner (half-cousins). Kate pursued acting from an early age.

FIRST GIG:
Kate's first gig came at age 10 in a Children's Theatre Workshop presentation of "Winnie the Pooh". The experience led Katherine and a friend to write an improvised production of the story and perform it at the Free Library in Philadelphia.

CENTER STAGE:
In 1994 Kate began studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She completed an apprenticeship at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Here is a list of her theatre projects:

Kate's performance in the role of Cheryl Avery on NBC's Law and Order: Special Victim's Unit's is just completely out of this world. If you have NOT seen the episode you really need to! It is on season 4 of SVU, episode 21 entitled "fallacy: DVD disc 5 episode 1.

NATIONAL ADS:
Kate appeared in a national ad on tv for Fleet Bank.

DOCUMENTARY: PROJECTS:
In April of 2007 OurChart began running segments of a documentary about GLBT youth homelessness with Kate. It is one of the most moving pieces I have ever seen.
