Mini-Biography I am a 22-year-old English major trying to be a 22-year-old Oscar Wilde of the female persuasion; so far, my search for renown has only earned me a sense of grandeur and pretention. I’m also a bit of an oddity, even to the geek/cult circles, as I cannot fit my sense of self into one fandom and find my interests sprawling the gamut of Nerd-dom.
I’m a writer trying to wade my way through the world of urban fantasy and the gothic, exemplifying a love of mythology whilst also proclaiming the importance of popular culture. I tend to favor fantasy over non-fiction, as we all live reality, and I find literature a form of truth in the escape. The human condition may not involve sunshine-dust and happy-times on a consistent basis, but good and evil can be found in everything. I draw inspiration from mythology, urban legends, pop-culture, and writers such as Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Laurell K. Hamilton, and dozens of others.
I also have a love of history, though my interests mainly involve Europe in the pre-Great War context and Japan in the post-World War II period.
Music is the background for life. If life is not a movie, it can at least have its own soundtrack. It has its own soul, rhythm, and meaning; music is poetry of the postmodern age. I have a great love of it, and will always place great importance on the continuation of artistic expression.
INFJ: "Author". Strong drive and enjoyment to help others. Complex personality. 1.5% of total population.
Who I'd like to meet: Darren Lynn Bousman, Jim Butcher, Kouta Hirano, Yun Kouga, Wendi Pini, J.K Rowling, Brendon Small, Joss Whedon, Terrance Zdunich...there's a ton more.
A lot of my nerdy-dreams have already been met: Brian Michael Bendis, Brom, Bruce Campbell, Neil Gaiman, Laurell K. Hamilton, Tara McPherson, Mike Mignola, Amanda Palmer, Gabe Sporta, Brendon Urie, Gerard Way (among others).
I <3 smart people, boys with long hair, writers, and individualists.
So a friend of mine decided he wanted to be the mario brothers this year. I was mario. Cuz I'm short. I guess. hehe. Other than that not much. Sat at home and had some drinks with friends. Watched the countdown of 100 scariest movie moments (which by the way is far too out of date). So I hear you'll be back for christmasy time?

Congrats on finishing Part I, Kate. Big accomplishment. Very proud of you.
I REALLY need to catch up...and now that I've seen Aaron (yeah, THAT Aaron) off to the airport, I might actually manage to scrounge some time to do so.
*scoffs* Check me out, can't even take MYSELF seriously. Let me amend that. When everyone here decides that they're ready to leave me the hell alone, I'll dive back into your book. Or when I get back to Portland. Whichever comes first.
