Kate Schrock is a US indie artist / rebel - raised on the coast of Maine - left home at 16 - landed in New York City and then Paris as a run-way model. Met cool people like Wim Wenders & Bill Murray and decided to use her brain and become a writer - enrolled at the University of Chicago to study philosophy and ended up fronting a rock band and transferring to art school (Bennington) where she met more interesting people and started making records and putting them out on her own label (Kakelane).
The status quo never held much fascination for Kate - who has seemed more interested in authentic life experiences than getting record deals. She just released her 6th indie album (2007) - 'Invocation' a collaboration with Legendary horn player Glen DaCosta of 'Bob Marley and the Wailers' fame - a forefather of reggae himself whose band 'Zap Pow' was instrumental in the birth of reggae / jazz revolution in the late 60's early 70's. 'Invocation' was recorded in Jamaica West Indies and Portland, Maine, USA.
Previously, Kate has worked, written, collaborated and toured with legendary Canadian rocker Dave Rave (of Teenage Head fame) - Rave produced Schrock's 5th album, 'Indiana' - which was recorded over the course of 4 days in a church in Hamilton, Ontario and features some of Hamilton's most colorful and talented musicians. Kate and her touring girl band are featured on Rave's 'Everyday Magic' album.
Other earlier releases by Kate Schrock are 'Refuge', 'Shunyata', 'Dames Rocket' and 'Live at the Majestic'. She's shared the stage with artists such as Taj Mahal, Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, Wayne Kramer of MC5, The Bodeans, Stephen Stills...
Hey there Mrs! Haven't heard from you in ages. I'm trying to get into the spirit of the season, but instead find myself consuming and enjoying far too many seasonal spirits! There's no calories in Drambuie...right? :o)
hi Kate - thanks for adding us to your friends list! - always good meeting other bands & artists from this great state of Maine - good luck with your music - John / William / Farren -Red Cross Sky-
Doors of Devotion is a most jammin track! Nice groove. Nice vid as well! Jamaica? How is that not burning up the cable channels?? Someone needs to get that in rotation :)...
The Carriage House Cafe is hosting again Maine Cultural Music Festival on September 26th, 27th and 28th. We are still looking to fill some events slots, and any artist or entertainer is encouraged to get a hold of us. The number is 897-5880, we are looking for any genre of music, as this is Cultural and we promote any band willing to participate. This is a volunteer project, but we are hoping that does not discourage anyone from joining this festival. We have an array of events already planned. Friday the 26th, We are beginning the festival at 6:00 pm with live entertainment, to be announced. The entertainment will be carried over to the Carriage House Cafe and we are have a Karaoke night starting at 9:00 pm on Friday, with drink specials. It is promised to be a good time, and everyone is welcome to participate! Saturday the 27th, we are hosting a fishing derby beginning at 6:00 am. Judging will be at 11:00 am, and trophies will be handed out at prizes. Live entertainment will continue on throughout the day, ending with a pig roast at 5:00 pm, eventually turning into live music at 9:00 pm inside the Carriage House. Sunday morning we may be hosting another fishing derby, depending on how successful the first one is. Music will be starting at noon. We have tables available for rent, for any artist who wants to sell their pieces, vendors looking for a space to set up, etc. We are only a small group with an idea - something of this magnitude must be a community effort in order for it to be a success. Anyone with ideas or would like to be involved , please feel free to contact me, or visit me at my restaurant, The Carriage House Café. Thank you!
note: all events are scheduled to change, and the entertainment line-up is To Be Announced.

Hey Kate, love the "Doors of Devotion" video, what a terrific song! You are as beautiful as the first time I saw you play at the Unitarian Church in Portland (a benefit show, because you are that cool!) I hope you have the time to hear my latest song, "After the Fall" its a rocker, but it has some heart. Hope to see you play again soon. Cheers! (also, you might like the instrumental "Little Fingertips" on my page as well) "Mission Beach" is still my favorite!
