Catharsis (Ancient Greek: Κάθαρσις) is a Greek word meaning "purification", "cleansing" or "clarification." It is derived from the infinitive verb of Ancient Greek: καθαίρειν transliterated as kathairein "to purify, purge," and adjective Ancient Greek: καθαρός katharos "pure or clean."
The term in drama refers to a sudden emotional climax that evokes overwhelming feelings of great sorrow, pity, laughter or any other extreme change in emotion, resulting in restoration, renewal and revitalization in members of the audience.
The concept of the band Kathaarsys started in 2002, it comes from the black abyss where endless hardship dwells, a concept born out of a feeling of disappointment, out of the painful spirit buried in defeat, out of being bound to observe the outcomes of the eternal frustration of our soul.
The band became well known in 2005 when they published their first album “Portrait of Wind and Sorrow”, which has captured the intimate and, so far, lethargic meaning of the group. The reaction to their work has been highly positive all over the countries where it has been distributed (France, U.K. Germany, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Romania, Mexico, USA, Japan and Korea).
It has been mainly in South America where the band has created an incredible expectation, which became plausible in October 2006 with the Mexican publication of their spectacular first record using artwork different from the postmodern trend of Concreto Records.
The impression caused by this at home and abroad has been only the beginning of Kathaarsys musical career.
In November of that same year the band goes again to a studio to record “Verses in Vain”, their second long play to be published in November 2007 by Silent Tree Productions (Europe) and Concreto Records (America).
This new and impressive work has been recorded in the same studio as the first one, in Litium Records professional studio, however, this time they have had the chance of using highly advanced technological resources.
The artwork was designed by the famous painter and draughtsman Krisverwimp, who has worked for bands such as Immortal, Ancient Rites, Suidakra, Marduk, etc. Peter Neuber was the sound magician who carried out the masterization, well-known by his awesome work for Callenish Circle, Dying Fetus etc. Ironically, in spite of the feeling of hopelessness and pessimism underlying it, this new record will mean a very positive evolution for the group.
Throughout this period of time the band has got to be known by their two tours: Portrait of Tour and Sorrow 2006 and Tour in the Black Abyss 2007. The former taking place within the country’s borders, and the latter all over Europe (France, Belgium, Holland, Germany,Italy, Switzerland and Spain), where they have shared various dates with the Romanian gods Negura Bunget.
The band was spectacularly welcome all over Europe by their audience.
There is no doubt that Kathaarsys has managed to get a very personal and genuine style and it is not an easy task to associate their music with a specific style. Black, Death or Doom metal have inspired them while being open to progressive touches, acoustic or even rock.
Lyrically speaking they find their purest inspiration in the drowsy Galician nature, which hangs itself, discretely in the intimacy of time.

Adam Bomb, uno de los músicos más prolíficos del rock americano del último cuarto de siglo estará tocando en el TNT el próximo 7 de enero. Este vocalista y guitarra de Seattle ha compartido escenario o grabado con muchos de los músicos de mayor reputación dentro del rock&roll:
Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Izzy Stradlin, Steeler (sustituyendo nada menos que a Yngwie Malmsteen), Black 'n Blue, Chuck Berry, Johnny Thunders, Steve Stevens (Billy Idol/Michael Jackson), Steve James (Dogs d'Amour), Steve Van Zandt (38. Special), Axl Rose (Guns n Roses), Jason Bonham (UFO), Lemmy (Motorhead), Get Animal, Michael Monroe, John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) o Steven Adler (Guns n Roses).
