Sonia Mann has studied Kathak at the Tarangini School of Kathak Dance for the past 12 years. She currently teaches beginner level class for all ages and continues to receive her training and guidance under Shrimati Anuradha Nag, who is a disciple of Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharj, Pandit Vijay Shankar and Natraj Parimal Krishnan of the Lucknow Gharana. In efforts to promote Indian culture and the arts, she has performed at various events and locations in the bay area, as well as attended workshops by renowned dancers such as: Pandit Birju Maharj, Pandit Padmasshri Kumudini Lakhia, Pandit Vijay Shankar, and Swapna Saswati Sen. Furthermore she enjoys playing the sitar and is an active member at the Sangati Center of Oakland helping to encourage the growth of dance and music throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
