Kathedral, like their name implies, surrounds you in thick clouds of incense, with dense, atmospheric music that recalls all the grandeur and mystery of gothic churches. Angels and demons meet on an eternal battlefield for your listening pleasure. This is heaven and hell chamber music for the modern gothic. Guitars peal and toll like church bells, bass booms with pomp and seriousness, while rhythms pound like prayers of contrition. Their vocals recall the whisperings and rants of the saints and prophets. Kathedral's music evokes the awesome fear one feels as a child when first entering and witnessing the mysteries of the Catholic mass.
Kathedral was started by Renzo & Donato after they left the Empire Hideous back in 1991. They quickly recruited Lenny on second guitar and after not being able to find a drummer Dr. Avalanche was brought in. After Lenny's departure in 1992, Paul A. was brought in on second guitar.
They played many high profile shows in their short career including headlining at The Limlight in NYC and shows with Requiem in White and Shadow Project.
After the band broke up Donato went on to a short stint as bass player for Shadow Project before starting Electric Frankenstein with his brother Sal. Lenny and Donato (aka Danny Frankenstein) are now in a new band called When I Was Dead. Paul A. currently plays guitar for The Nolan Gate. Renzo has appeared to have fallen off the face of the earth.
