Ever since Katherine Dawn AKA "Dawn Davis" can remember she blah blah blah blah...You know the story. " Loves Horses, Jesus and her record player too." Started singing in church. Baptised in the San Marcos, TX, River. Started writing and playing guitar at age nine. Started playing for tips in the South Texas bars at thirteen yrs old. In between being part of the pit crew for her pro race driving Dad Tommy Davis Jr. she would learn as many chords and tips about the business from her Uncle Carl Davis, her musical Godfather Augie Meyers and all of his buddies at the ranch. KD's second band was with her hospital nursery twin Clay Meyers..."Cypress". Nothing' like learning' your chops on the tour bus with Augie's crew. "Big Bill Lister taught me a lot about never giving in. What a run we had in Comfort TX every weekend at the "Hill Country Opry". Weldon Lister Jr. and I sure played some heartfelt melodies together.
You know to just wrap it up I'd say I grew up around Texas Music Royalty. Today I play acoustic and electric guitar, Bass Guitar, 5 string banjo, I write, I produce, I am so satisfied and grateful to be an artist and family lady. I love playing in THE Ashlee Rose Band, writing and playing with longtime amigo Robin Howell. Augie and Clay are still my touch stones and business gurus.
I love knowing that the entertainment business is never predictable and after years of vowing never to date anybody in the band again...It was a good choice to marry the drummer. Without my talented husbands encouragement and support I would not STILL be "Just Me with the music, honest and forthright." He reminds me to never underestimate myself and has made it possible for me to raise our three children and continue to evolve as an artist and be appreciated as a true friend in good times and bad.
How do you describe almost 37 yrs of influence and list all of the bands, musicians, and projects that have made me the performing songwriter I am today? I'm so grateful of all of the love and support from the musicians over the years and the sets and sessions to come.
Big Bill always told me was "remember your only as great as your latest in this business. A Hit song doesn't care who sings it."

I was trying REAL hard to get at least ONE travel writer to do an article about this crazy-assed singer/songwriter they'd stumbled upon in SA-town ... oh, well, at least I didn't put one of their eye's out with my CD. Yeah, sorry I had to run off two-thirds of the way thru your set. I love that hard drivin' style of yours!
