BONJOUR! HOLA! HELLO!
My name is Katherine and I am a professional musician and recording artist. Music and the arts has been a lifelong passion for me and I love learning new things and growing constantly. I believe in the importance of giving back and also do outreach/charity projects involving music.
I work hard but I also try to make time to stop and smell the roses (or the LA smog??? ha, ha) and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I've laughed, cried, had break-ups and tough times just like alot of you. I'm thankful to my wonderful group of friends for keeping me down to earth. I grew up in a small town, but have lived in several cities.
I enjoy fashion, old Hollywood-style glamour, music, and theatre. I like to curl up with my goofy but very cuddly cat Jolie (named for Angelina). I also like cafe mochas, Italian food, any episode of "Friends", talking or debating about philosophy, all animals, British literature, traveling/learning about new places, both here and abroad, and watching movies on DVD. I also like goofing around and being just plain silly sometimes.
I write songs about world peace, love, mythology and issues facing our world
today. I put my heart and soul into each performance and song and hope that it adds
value to people's lives in some way. I swear I would sleep on the stage if I could lol...
Have a wonderful day! Take a deep breath, and let the music fill you..
With rave reviews in several languages, hundreds of original songs and equal doses class and angst, singer/songwriter/pianist Katherine Farnham just may be the music industry's most promising rising star. Katherine combines a beautiful, four-octave voice and a passionate and dramatic approach to the piano. She writes of love, passion, hope and myth with a thoughtful integrity that both illuminates and entertains. Throughout it all though, is a constant celebration of the power of the human spirit.
Katherine has appeared on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, NBC 6, TELEMUNDO, the AT&T AMPHITHEATRE and countless venues across the U.S. and the Caribbean. Her indie tracks have received several CMJ charts and airplay on college and commercial radio stations here and in South America. She is a summa cum laude grad of Boston's Berklee College of Music.
Katherine composed her first song at age 5 during a family road trip and the same year sang her first vocal solo in public. She studied piano with her mom. (Her mom was former Director of New England Conservatory's Wellesley Branch and her father toured with Arthur Fielder and The Boston Pops.) Katherine went pro at 14, singing and playing for local events. An honors student, she won the leading role in her junior high school musical and her hometown's Miss Teen Autumn Leaf Festival crown. Soon afterwards, Betty Farnham insisted on her daughter’s making a tape of her playing. Two months later Katherine had received a scholarship to the international Tanglewood Institute's Young Artists Piano Program.
After rejecting the confining atmosphere of the conservatory, Katherine found the freedom to explore her artistic voice at Boston’s acclaimed Berklee College of Music. Soloing with The Gospel Choir, forming her own band and graduating with highest honors was no small task. Katherine took it in stride and also won Berklee’s Performer/Songwriter Competition. Her modest-demo-tape turned EP "FOR THE LOVE OF IT ALL" was released to a full house at Boston’s HARD ROCK CAFE. Featuring sensual photographs and Katherine’s unique blend of pop, jazz and R&B, it garnered several CMJ charts, international radio airplay and a review by a MIDEM journalist and Latin Grammy Awards consultant that fully recognized her tremendous artistic and musical potential: "The New Voice of America. She has all the requirements to be one of the top names in American Pop Music”.
Katherine’s image is an uncanny blend of beautiful woman, seductress and best friend. Her down-to-earth approach, work ethic and genuine caring for people radiates from her commitment to music and her lyrics in “Mother Earth”, “Don’t You Feel the Pain”, “Peace on Earth” and “Mosaic.” Fans and friends are inspired by her inner strength and ability to overcome obstacles to be a consistent artistic force.
Her discography includes the critically-acclaimed debut EP "For the Love of it All", the bold, acoustic "Songs from the Troubadour" and "Mosaic", endorsed as Miami's long-awaited Theme Song of Unity. Her latest studio project includes collaborations with several talented producers and Grammy-winning studio professionals in Los Angeles. In 2009, she was chosen from over 4000 artists to appear on the AIM Compilation CD, released in Amsterdam. She is listed in Who's Who in the World 2009.
