life and stuff is good. it's moving along summer speed. that's good or bad depending on the day, i suppose. most recent news: we got a washer and dryer. laundry at home seems very exciting right now. you should come visit. we'll do your laundry. for free.
I would have been overjoyed if Clinton were the nominee. It looked very much like she would be initially, and I was excited for her as a Democratic candidate, as a woman, as a person. That was at the beginning of all this, without someone like Obama as a serious contender, before Team Clinton did all the things they did during this campaign. Here's a short list, roughly in order of awfulness:
-FL and MI rule-changing and comparing it to 2000/slavery/sufferage/every other sensitive issue ever. -Saying that she'd have the support of 'hard-working white people'. -Bill belittling Obama's SC victory along racial lines. -General stoking of race and gender bitterness for her own gain. -Sniper-fire lie to make her look tough and experienced.
It really was that bad. What made it even worse was that it was against a peer of hers, another Democrat. That's (partly) why NARAL left, that's why many of her most ardent insider allies left, women and otherwise. It was a well-intentioned mission that turned toxic when Obama started winning, and it got worse as it went. I've said this before; I actually think her TEAM was responsible for most of the bile, but she went along with it when she thought it might help. My issue is not with her, much less her gender, it's with the tactics they used. Without those tactics, I'd love Obama just as much, I just wouldn't be as disillusioned about Team Clinton. I used to laugh about how I loved that Bill was the last Democrat that could win, faults and all, and that I wanted someone else with that tenacity. I now see that in a different light. Obama is a winner in ways that I didn't think were possible. We'll see if it holds up in the General, I feel sure that it will. I hope other Dems and any other party people learn from it.
I registered voters for Bill Clinton, felt angry and sad when they both got torn up for silly things (even when it seemed like they'd fucked up). I felt a
so i went up and saw beth today. i dunno how often you guys speak. she said she doesn't get to get up with anyone or do anything more than sit around and watch tv...which is so typically beth. anyways..i'm pretty sure you're carless, so this is me offering you a ridealong with my next visit. and if you don't need a ride then this is me asking you to get your ass up there anyways. i think it'd be good for her. and i'd appreciate it during these crazy times.
well one of those thousands of possibilities was that she was a sedaris. duh. and damn i've never had a real your mom joke that applied to my mom. salt n pepa is more important that YOUR mom... shit. i got nothin.
my mom used to get pissed if i listened to salt n pepa. yeah, i said it. my mom got pissed. i had no idea what i was listening to. the groove took me away.
whatever, it was better than en vogue. doooon't, let goooo...
