I'm a singer/songwriter based in Sheffield UK. I play acoustic guitar, but my style crosses over from pop to folk to alternative.
I used to be in indie power pop band Moreau's Island - you can check out their songs and one of the videos we did here.
If you see me live I mix some eclectic covers with my own material, including Joni Mitchell, Bjork and the Pet Shop Boys.
Anyway, take a listen and see what you think.
"impressive........if you see Kathy Cookson playing a gig near you, after listening to this potential and imagining what it would be like from this CD, it would be a treat" Matt Whalley, Sandman magazine.
Hi Kathy Cool to hear from you. Sorry for the slow reply but that’s cos ive been neglecting myspace too! I haven’t been on the net for ages & only just got round to reading my e-mails for the last month. The backlog of spam was painful to say the least! It’s great you’ve got gig requests. It’s amazing how a bit of interest can inspire motivation. I should be ok to come to any future gigs you do as I’m now back in sheff more often, though still rather ill but getting gradually better (I think!) By the way i'm not surprised you haven't written any new songs for a while - isn’t Neighbours on about 3 times a day now? heh heh. Not that I’d know or anything cos I haven’t watched it for years (ahem) - not since I used to have my rather fetching Charlene perm back in the 80's... Anyway now that’s my street cred ruined I just wanted to tell you that Jamie has managed to wangle a really great new rehearsal room that we can use for free. I had a look at it today & compared to the dives i'm used to it’s amazing! It’s even got an ensuite loo! Anyway best get some sleep now, see you soon I hope. Jill xx
Hey Kathy, Hope you're well, just thought I'd let you know i have a new track up on my page. It's called 'The Butterfly' so please have a listen if you've got a spare minute!x

Proceeds are going towards taking original SutCo play 'Dissexions' to The Edinburgh Festival this summer.
To Headline we have the honor of welcoming The PeteBox for the first time in Sheffield. Voted Radio 1's Champion Beatboxer. This man uses a loop peddle and his voice to create a Beatbox show like no other taking you through the genres of Jazz, Hip Hop and Drum & Bass. To be fully convinced type 'Petebox' into YouTube, sit back and be amazed.

2nd on the bill we have a band called Worriedaboutsatan. Think Explosions in the Sky, The Cocteau Twins and an ambient 65Days. Bring your dancing shoes!

To end the night Opus DJ's such as DJ4D and Mr Mercer will bring you a blend of many artists featured on the impressive Warp and Planet Mu roster, ending with and eclectic mix of New Jungle and liquid D&B to dance away the wee hours.
This is night is like no other in Sheffield so come down and support these artists that would not normally be found on the same bill. We hope nights like this will expose people to art forms and music that they may not normally come into contact with in an attempt to show the similarities in different genres and styles.
We're playing our last Sheffield gig, before we move to London, at The Red House (168 Solly Street) this Saturday (June 2nd) at 8pm. There’ll be guest appearances, and support slots from Dave Truran and Nick Henderson. If you can come along, that'd be great.
Our first birthday is upon us and it will be dropping like... well like a bomb!
