Kathy Diamond is a singer-songwriter who lives in Brighton but hails from Sheffield in the north of England. Her love of soul and disco started at an early age, dancing around the living room to Donna Summer with her mum. The singing came later. As a child, Kathy was always imaginative; she loved to write poetry, dress up and perform, which turned out to be great practice for her later career.
In the early ’90s she decided to write songs and sing them herself, working with different bands, DJs and producers along the way.
In 2002, Kathy wrote a song with house producers SWAG called Miracles Just Might. A laid-back Balearic classic, it was originally supposed to be included on SWAG’s album but circumstances changed – so Kathy decided to release the song herself, pressing up and distributing a limited number of white labels (which was quite a task). The track received great reviews. DJ magazine said: “If you like sweet beauty in your house music, keep your eyes peeled because it’s only going to get a limited release”.
Within a month another 12" was released, this time on the Cottage label (Idjut Boys), produced by the legendary Maurice Fulton. The track, called Sunshine, received huge plaudits from the music media and started a magical collaboration. In 2007, Kathy’s Fulton-produced debut album Miss Diamond To You was globally received with open arms; the reviews – from XLR8R, Pitchfork, The Village Voice and The New York Sun, to name but a few – were the best yet.
Having spent 2007 performing the album around Europe and the UK, Kathy is looking forward to another busy year. The first half of 2008 sees releases with Toby Tobias - The Feeling (REKIDS); Lo-Motion Disco - Love, Love, Love (Soft Rocks feat. Kathy Diamond Remix) (Eskimo Records); Aeroplane feat. Kathy Diamond – Whispers (Eskimo Records); Maxi Skiba feat. Kathy Diamond - Never Stop Believing,Highwire(Gomma); Codebreaker feat. Kathy Diamond – Fire(Disco Demolition USA); plus a special edition 12" with Soft Rocks.
Kathy’s currently working on her second album with Keeling Lee(ex-Groove Armada)and Soul Mekaniks Danny Spencer and Kelvin Andrews.It's on schedule for early 2009.Another collection of really great songs.Kathy is really excited to bring you this project and says its the album she's always wanted to make. Here comes the new Pizzico Nobel release made on slanting hip hop vibes and subpoenas but stuffed with italo and electric shots, it reminds of something like end of 90's ninja tune stuff... no doubt Pizzico is still looking forward... and back as well. For the tenth PN release Billy wanted his prestigious remixers, friends and co-operators Enzo Ponzio, Ichisan & Nakova and young hooded "Sanaleik" project, a couple of young beat bandits that like to re-edit and deconstruct everything with a special 90's taste. Enzo's version sounds like a paranoid old fashioned underground tune, so deep and dirty; I&N's mix is like a fat and slow funk, at the top of their big talent. We hope to have made you curious enough...
FINALLY!!! The live video of Mr. Confuse & The Confusers playing at the Mephisto Club in Hannover Germany on 27th September 2008 is ready. It was the album release concert of the Mr. Confuse album “Feel The Fire” released on Légère Recordings as DLP, CD and digital in September 2008.
