The big thrill of my life this year was the launching of my first picture book, AMADI'S SNOWMAN, illustrated by Dimitrea Tokunbo.
Amadi knows his numbers and cannot wait to become a businessman like the older boys in his Igbo village of Nigeria. If only his mother would stop bugging him about learning to read words. On the day he runs to the market to escape her, Amadi stumbles upon a boy he knows, hiding at a book stall... reading. There, the cover of a book showing a strange white creature with a carrot for a nose catches Amadi's attention. Alas, he cannot read, and no one will answer his questions about the snowman...

I must have given up on him long before hearing Verklärte Nach, but now I want to give it a try! If I love it too, I'll certainly feel older and wiser, which is better than just being older.
Thanks for the add. I lok forward to Danielle's book. Have you read "Out of India" by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala? An excellent work about culture shock and ex-pats. Blessings to you.
I just went to your blog site. I can't wait to read your friend's book. My husband was a missionary in Behar several years ago. He and I honeymooned (backpacked) through India for 6 weeks in 2005.
Just reading the excerpts, my mind flashes with all that INDIA is and all the INDIA did to and for me.
There is no place like it and I don't know anyone who's been there that wasn't changed forever.
I look forward to reading your blogs and visiting with you.
Thanks for the add. :) You sound quite happy and settled in over there. My husband and I have a love for travel, adventure, and learning about other cultures. I look forward to getting to know you. How long have you been in India?
