Hailing from the outskirts of D.C., singer-songwriter Katie Arnold has been writing music for the past 20 years. She started out on piano as a child, picked up a guitar in college, and didn't discover the unleashed power of her voice until her early twenties. Now this soul-stirring musician is captivating audiences in her new home, New York City, with thought-provoking lyrics and rich melody lines. Maybe it is her haunting voice that has been compared to such greats as Sarah McLachlan and Alanis Morissette or perhaps it is the simplistic beauty of her music. Whatever it may be, Katie Arnold's songs have a fearless, yet graceful way of forcing people to stop and recognize that a life untested is a life unlived.
Katie's debut album, Five Shades in Motion was recorded in the mountains of Montana with a small group of talented and passionate friends. Layers of piano, strings, percussion and guitar enhance the simplistic beauty of her acoustic songs.
REVIEWS: "In a world where much of the new music all sounds alike and good music is only good because it is riding on the curtails of great music, Katie Arnold delivers the truth, vulnerability and passion that are missing from her contemporaries. She sings untamed songs made up of hearty lyrics and a heavy, but hopefilled sound." -- C.A. Muncey, RevelantMagazine.com
“With the romantic verve of a young Linda Ronstadt and the driving vigor of a young Grace Slick, Katie Arnold captures country/adult-oriented rock with a jazzy edge that is hypnotic and should make her a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. Her new CD is a killer.” -- Larry Marshak, Former Editor of Rock Magazine
“When I left my office with a handful of new artist CD’s to audition during my 40 minute ride home, I happened to start with one from Katie Arnold. Immediately my speakers filled with a fresh new sound. Usually I fast forward the tracks and skip around when I am auditioning, but completely intrigued by the variations on each track, I continued to let this CD play, and before long I was home. Her haunting vocals over fast paced rhythm tracks cut through the din of the music factories’ releases and punctuates a mood that draws you into each song. Her skilled vocals and song writing ability mark Katie Arnold as a gifted talent.” -- Dave Kellogg, syndicated radio personality
