Biography
The Sleepwells are currently performing in the Philadelphia and New York City area while in the process of recording their new album "Somewhere Over the Radar" at Sine Studies in Philly with engineer Obie O’Brien (Soraia, Bon Jovi). With a sold out performance at the House of Blues and regular rotation on WERS 88.9fm and WBCN 104.1 in Boston, lead singer Katie Barbato packed up her guitar and moved down the coast to Philly. Here is where she met up with old friends and music buddies Matt Teacher and Mike Lawson who opened their state of the art Sine Studios in 2004. Adam Schwartz from London rounds out the rhythm section with his talented bass stylings. Together the Sleepwells have been rockin’ Philadelphia and NYC playing the North Star, Tin Angel, World Cafe Live, Pianos,Kenny’s Castaway and Grape Street. Featured live this past August on legendary Gene Shay’s radio show, The Sleepwells made their debut performance on WXPN’s 88.5 acclaimed station. Katie’s songwriting is heartfelt and has been featured on NPR’s AllSongs Considered Open Mic, on compilations with Martin Sexton and Edie Carey, and has opened for Citizen Cope, Deb Talan of the Weepies, and Melissa Ferrick.

Dude it was awesome to play a show with the person who gave me my first opportunity to get on a stage. I can't wait to play some more with you guys and you sounded fucking amazing!
Thanks for playing at The Blarney this past Sunday. I really appreciate you helping us while we are just getting started. I welcome any advice from you, and I know that you are also interested in bringing back more live music to South Street.
Also I had the chance to speak with Mike Lawson at Lickety last night. He had played keyboards with you on Sunday night so I introduced myself. You've done a great job in creating a talented circle of friends and musicians.
thanks babe, it was great to see you too last night! sorry I had to run out without saying goodbye, had to run for a bus. Going to try to make it next week, had a blast, so hopefully see you then!
