A BIT OF HISTORY:
Kent born singer Katie first made her mark on the Kent music scene when she was a ‘wee nip of a girl’ invited by her mentors to whip up a storm on stage with local bands such as the Chillbillies, (formerly The Charing Hillbillies) and weekly performances with sister Caroline Hampshire, at the infamous Penny Theatre, Canterbury. During this time she developed her skills on blues harp and established her own singing style drawing on the many sources available to her.
KATIE LIVE
Katie has a warm and open stage manner and these same characteristics shine through in her musicianship. Her voice blends delicacy with surprising power and is equally alluring whether enriched by instrumental backing or unaccompanied. With an imaginative approach to instrumental arrangements she gives a contemporary edge to antique songs.
WRITING AND RECORDING
As well as performing with her bands and duo's, Katie has worked with performers in Europe and America. Katie has featured on albums by Jack Pound, Luke Smith and recorded many sessions in the Uk and abroad. Katie features, in a duet with best friend, (Canterbury legend) and as-it-happens: Anti-folk hero, Luke Smith on his latest album "This Time I've Done it" BEJOCD-47. Check out 'The Hard Way', Katies use of her own english accent has been compared to the late and great Kirsty Macoll, which has been a humbling compliment.Katie also offers backing vox throughout with sister Caroline as one of 'The Feelings'. Katie has also been included in the 2001 ‘Blues in Britain CD’ featuring the UK’s top blues performers/vocalists including Wes Weston and Emily Druce. Katie’s debut CD ‘Night sky’ was released in 2003 at The Gulbenkian Theatre. Katie’s is currently working on new material for a new album to be released soon.

REVIEWS OF SHARRON KRAUS
M.J. Fine, Philadelphia Citipaper: Best Local CDs of 2004 Recorded in her native Oxford, the second album from Fishtown transplant Sharron Kraus is a dark-folk gem. Listening to her high, clear voice cut through melodies woven from acoustic guitar, banjo and hurdy-gurdy, you may struggle to remember which late-'60s traditionalists beat her to the material. But with one small exception, these murder ballads and forest laments all come from Kraus' pen. Here's one folklore expert whose originals feel both authentic and alive. Thom Jurek, All Music Guide * * * * Byron Coley & Thurston Moore, Arthur Magazine Exquisite second album by this wonderful singer. She conjures up visions of Karen Dalton, Shirley Collins, Judy Dyble and even early Joni. Live she was fantastic too. Rough Trade The second album from Oxford's fabulous Sharron Kraus is a wonderful follow-up to the haunting debut 'Beautiful Twisted'. … this moves from traditional folk (in a Shirley Collins, Anne Briggs style) to her own songs and enchants all the way. An immaculate album from a major new singer. The Big Takeover With a voice like a younger Joan Baez, Sharron Kraus' second album begins with a hop and a skip up a "Gallow's Hill" and perhaps a murder between lovers. ... a delicate record that grows in depth with each listen. Play at night by yourself at your own risk. Simon Lewis, Ptolemaic Terrascope Like the dusty book of fairy tales that so enchanted me as a child this al
